DON'T DOWNLOAD THIS MOD (it is now pointless + harmful).
This mod is half a decade old.
Since then, the game authors have made many, many changes to the LifeIsStrangeEngine.ini configuration to take advantage of modern machines automatically. Things like shadows are now defaulting to 4K resolution and will automatically scale based on distance from camera (that's how it should be).
The "mod" would just break the modern settings and insert ancient settings that will harm people.
Nobody should download this anymore and it should be deleted, because it's no longer useful and is instead harmful.
Forget about this old config mod.
If you want to MANUALLY apply some worthwhile tweaks to the game that still matter (they are universal recommendations for Unreal Engine games), just go to "My Documents\My Games\Life Is Strange\LifeIsStrangeGame\Config" and open "LifeIsStrangeEngine.ini" in a text editor. Then change "MaxProcBuildingLODColorTextureSize=1024" to 2048, "MaxProcBuildingLODLightingTextureSize=256" to 1024 (or 512) and "MinShadowResolution=64" to 256. There is literally zero reason to raise these beyond the values I've described because "LOD" means "level of detail" which in turn only refers to distant scenery objects where you don't need ultra resolutions. And the "minimum shadow resolution" (the final setting) is only used for extremely distant objects where you definitely don't want 4K shadows, and nearby shadows are already 4K by default.
Anyway, if someone wants to truly improve this game's graphics, install ReShade, point it to the "Steam\steamapps\common\Life Is Strange\Binaries\Win32" folder, set it to Direct3D 9 mode, install a bunch of shaders and create something beautiful. That's going to have infinitely more impact than some config changes that are no longer necessary.
I took a look at the update history on Steam and couldn't see what you meant. There were only 6 updates for the game and 5 of them came out in the release year 2015 and one in 2016. In what way this game should have received "many, many changes" to "take advantage of modern machines automatically" I could not trace. Most of the updates were made to prepare the game for the next episode and otherwise, as usual, only the most necessary things were improved. Apart from that, it can happen that the changes you suggest are reset by the game.
