UPlay is a piece of s#*!, and that has been established. As it turns out, save files are encrypted using your UPlay username, and thus will simply not work most of the time (just like they won't anyway).
And then there is the issue of the two save game formats that are both incompatible and both also stop working. This is the type of save game that is supposed to be in C:/Program Data/Orbit/46/ . It may work with your game if you're still pre-all patches somehow when you've got the steam version (as in, if you acquire a different version than the one you have via TPB or other such sites - this is not illegitimate if you've already bought the product, at least in mainland Europe).
