Is there a way to do the opposite? I can imagine a mod that just has the oxygen tank + tube would be very popular with those who liked the STALKER series

You mean add another canister? The Canister I removed/flattened was blocking the characters forward vision and hiding the face during conversations.
      Or am I misunderstanding you?

      Added a before picture.

I know i may be necroing this thread, but i think what he ment was like a closed oxygen loop with and oxygen tank located somewere kinda like what the original outfit suggests but idk why you would put the oxygen tank directly on your forehead... thats like strapping a bomb to your face and not expecting it to blow up.

Is there any chance you'd do the same for the male Heavy Raider armor? I'm currently playing a raider-like character and really like the heavy armor (with the skulls, gas canisters, etc.), but the cloth and canister that block the forward vision are just unsightly.. If there's any way to remove those, I'd much appreciate it!

I tried, and tried, and tried again, and again... And after about 16 tries, I gave up. Every time I finish editing the model and put it into the game, it just disappears from the characters body.
No idea what I am doing wrong. Sorry.

This is fantastic! I love the raider armours, but that canister has been bugging me. That and the plate hanging down the back of the buttressed heavy raider chest.

I actually did try to remove that plate on the back of the buttressed heavy, but the upper part is attached to the hose, so I cannot remove it, only make it waaaay smaller. Licence Plate small.
And even then, it becomes really distorted.
      [EDIT]
I actually did manage to remove the entire thing, by putting it inside the characters body, it did however, mess up the underside of some of the hoses on the back of the armor, you can't see it unless you look up from underneath, but it is there.
Also, during playtesting, the entire upper part is floating in midair, so I got some kinks to work out =P

probably wont need this but can see why you did it.

also it didnt make much sense why it was there as there was another canister lower down that could serve as filter or oxygen tank whatever its meant to be.

      Indeed.
I never understood why it was there in the first place, I mean, if it was to provide protection, they should have gone with bullet resistant glass instead of an air canister.
Otherwise, it just severely limits the field of view of the user.
Anyway, I made this more for personal use, as I do not imagine a lot of people using raider armor out there, and if they do, they would most likely upgrade it to buttressed quality.
I just got annoyed by it because I only use the pre-buttressed version(looks awesome), but I hated that it blocked my characters face, so I wanted to remove it =P
When I get better at this whole mesh editing thing, I may just add glass to the front of the cage and move the canister ontop of the cage, making it more sensible.

OMG I feel you! Since I never used Raider armor (especially not the heavy version), I never realised this. I guess Bethesda must have been drunk when designing this. It makes no sense whatsoever.

not sure raiders are smart enough to produce bullet resistant glass.

They make home made Power Armor, which features bullet resistant glass, so they can do it, it is just a matter of finding and adding it =)
