Something is wrong with these turrets xD I found one in game, narrowed it down to which one it was by using FO4Edit and setting its damage to 0, which keeps it from attacking at all. I then set its damage to 1, loaded the game up and changed the difficulty to very easy. The turret did 12 damage per shot, with me having about 300 armor and lone wanderer, besides the reduction from difficulty. There must be something added to these turrets somehow, somewhere. Like some keyword adds some mod or something to them. They feel really buggy... Pains me that I can't fix the stupid turrets. My own homemade difficulty revamp works great, even above level 100 with amazing gear, and it keeps the game interesting. But these turrets just screw the whole thing over! >.< Changing their attack speed is a workaround though, but it feels weird in game :3 I've been looking around for the source of their uber-damage dealing capabilities, but no solution so far. Maybe someone has some ideas?
Honestly I think Fo4Edit's scope is just too narrow to locate what the hell is wrong with laser turret damage output, tried tweaking quite a few variables about them before I finally gave up and changed their speed.
Believe I found the problem with turrets... We have CrrangedDmg perk. It adds a multiplier bubbleturret03 has a 30XCrrangedDmg multiplier
So a turret does 30 base damage...
then its got a 30 CrrangedDmg.
Dont know if this works as additive or multiplier... however Ever noticed the Mk1 turrets are pretty darn effective vs even deathclaws? They get a 10 CrrangedDmg multiplier... a level 3 turret doesn't its only got 15 base damage...
It really looks like things were never properly formalized.
Mk1 Turret should do 20 damage per hit if its additive and 100 damage if its multi. I didn't have time to test but figured I would post here maybe someone else can.
The ballistic version of the turret also has broken damage and because of this the most powerful enemy is the Mister Gutsy that's armed with the same gun as the turret.
Any chance of different options on this? Since you didn't list what exactly this mod does I'm wary to DL it because I don't want the turrets to become complete jokes that I don't have to worry about anymore. Can you tell me by how much you changed them or can you make alternative versions?
The rate of fire is every two and a half seconds or so, but I was thinking of making a version that would be harder.
Extra files should be up in a day or two, I'll try and make them 1-second, 2-seconds and 3-seconds since that will be easier to understand for everyone.
Going to be honest, on modded survival difficulty, laser turrets are the #1 most deadly enemies I run into. More than Fat Man-wielding Gunners with a billion HP, more than Super Mutant Suiciders that appear out of nowhere.
I don't think I'll be using this (I need SOMETHING to challenge my murderous rampages!) but I'm glad this exists if I decide otherwise. Good work. :)
If you want a fun difficulty hike, I recommend [High Level Scale], all my enemies are always at least 20 levels ahead of me (another reason why these turrets are such bitches xD)
The word "fix" is not the right one. Yes they are difficult and you need to cover and wait for them to stop firing so you can hit them but editing their fire rate (so making them easier) it's not a fix. A cheat maybe..
In vanilla, if I am careless enough to wander fully into fire range of two of these (how they usually get placed in game), while wearing full power armor, fully upgraded, with Shielded Lining on my vault suit as well as upgraded armor pieces (more slots/armorsmith), on normal settings, I die in about half a second. That is indicative of bad balancing. Go ahead and suggest it be called a rebalance instead of a fix, but calling it a cheat is going a bit far.
The first time I encountered these things I was not expecting how powerful they were. I was high level myself and had not been killed even by those MKVII exploding bullet turrets, so confidently walked out and took them on in full PA.
I was cut down in seconds. I just sat there thinking "What the fu......"
Decent points from everyone, edited the title... but it definitely fits my definition of a fix, since by default those turrets completely ignore resistances. Whether you're in fully upgraded X01 or nekkid, you die in the same amount of shots xD

Maybe once the CK is finally released ^.-

I'd wager he'd disagree with you on that second point.

Those turrets are the cheating ones.
I never died being shot at by a turret... only 1 place this can happen... but you have to be a little dumb to try it
anyhow... not needed in my opinion...sorry...
maybe bring a fatman.. oh yes.. i forgot.. your mod,get rid of the fatman... too bad for you
Never understood comments like this. Then don't use the mod.
That's obviously because we are noobs, you are so much stronger compared to us.
Or maybe not.
So don't download it. If you don't like it, don't post. Your opinion isn't that important.
