About this mod

Need a better way to find steel? Then worry no more. This mod allows you to construct scrapyard sheds that are harvestable like crops are. But only you get steel instead of food.

Introduction

Isn't it a pain to lug a crap load of junk around just to get a few hundred pieces of steel when you need it? Well that's no longer a problem now. Now instead of scrounging around like a scavver all day you can sit back and let your settlers rustle up a few scrap piles everyday.

Description

This mod is meant to function in a way that is similar to crops (settlers will not automatically harvest still...at least not yet). You can place down the scrapyard shed anywhere you want and the settler will work it to gather steel there. Once the settler is done you can harvest the said shed for 30 pieces of steel. This mod was created to compliment Tree Farms - Harvestable Wood (also with permission to use his methods for creating the mod) to add more of a variety to gathering the resources needed for crafting.

Changes
  • V 2.5 Beta (WARNING: I have not tested this yet so back up your saves. It also does not function properly as of yet). Added copper and aluminum to the harvester when you harvest materials form it. Instead of giving you copper, aluminum, and steel when you harvest it, it will give you only one instance of the 3. This will be fixed in the official release. Added a new file called the scrapper 3. It is required but does nothing yet. It will be expanded on in newer versions after I fix what is harvested.
  • V 2.0: Added a smaller model (Cauldron used as placeholder for now). Added Scrapper 2 perk requirement to build the harvester for balancing reasons and to add usefulness to the scrapper perk.

Installation

Simple to do just use your favorite mod manager: Nexus Mod Manager, Mod Organizer 2, or your own two hands to install. If you chose to install manually (i.e. your own two hands :p) then drop the esp file into the data folder, activate it and your good to go! Now go get that steel you scavver!

Future Plans & Updates
  • Create perk requirements to utilize the shed (Possibly adding another rank to the scrapper perk and a version with our without this new perk).
  • Possibly create a custom mesh to make the shed look like an actual scrapyard.
  • Add other means of harvesting steel.
  • Instead of just harvesting the metals from the shack. You will have to melt down the scraps and separate them into different components(You will receive each scrap piece in random amounts, one scrap will yield 1 piece of copper and aluminum and then 2 pieces of steel).
  • Add aluminum and copper to the scrapyard to be harvest at random amounts. (See new plans below).
  • Add separate sheds for each metal to be harvested (a shed for steel, aluminum and copper) that requires a level of the scrapper perk in that order to craft.
  • Add new shed sizes that determines how much of each metal (a large shed will yield more metal).

Credits
  • Bethesda for making such a great game! (Seriously i'm 300+ hours in the damned thing!)
  • EliminsterAU and the team behind FO4Edit. I have no clue how they put this great tool together so these guys should get a cookie when I get one.
  • comodo99 for allowing me to use his method and for allowing me to bug him on how he did it. (Check his mod out here and endorse if you enjoyed mine: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/6728/)
