I'm a little bit confused. Should I use this version to be able to use Baka and Buffout together or should I use the other one you have uploaded "BuffBaka Settings for Buffout 4 and Baka ScrapHeap"? What is the difference between the two?
worst thing i ever did was download this, i ended up spending three days down loading only for it to completely ruin my game and cost me uninstalling vortex and fallout 4 costing me another three days to down load it as it was before, not recomended.
While this will let you start the game despite having reached the ba2 limit this also comes with textures issues and potential voice related crashes, so I'd advice against this approach.
For now your best option is to repackage ba2 files to keep yourself within the limit. Simplest would be to just unpack small ba2 files.
Aside from unpacking files, Is there no workaround for the archive limit? I've literally thousands of little armor and weapon mods for Skyrim packed into thousands of archives and don't have any problems with loading in meshes and textures. A couple years ago, my goal was to assign one unique "outfit" per each unique npc in the game. I come over here to Fallout and expect a similar experience, only to spend a couple days trying to figure out why my game is crashing on start-up because of too many archives. LOL
I use ESLify currently to flag .esm and .esp as .esl but it breaks s#*! randomly. I'm interested in this unpacking and grouping solution too. From what I read you can pack a bunch of related mods into one .esm or .esp or some shit.
I personally use BAE to unpack most of my stuff. Some argue that it's not perfect and you should use Archive2 that comes with Creation Kit, but have yet to experience an issue with regular (Main) ba2 files at least.
As for ESLifying. I personally use Vortex which comes with a handy feature to let you see what can be ESLified and then lets you do it inside the mod manager itself. Outside that I tend to add the flag manually for stuff in xEdit. That said I've heard the linked tool should do the job, even if I'm not sure on ESLifying esm files.
What would you consider a small BA2? I've hit the limit and I'm thinking around unpacking stuff that's around a 100 Mb but I'm wondering about what files you would recommend to unpack.
And while not recommended, if your hardware is good enough, even unpacking weapons can be fine. What you want to make sure is that in one location where stuff spawns, you don't want too much to be from loose files. But as long as just the odd stuff is, it won't really affect performance that much.
In general though, even if a bit bigger archive, I suppose it's fine, as long as it's just the "main" file as those benefit a lot less from the compression (sometimes not compressed at all) that texture archive get.
That said, if you got a weapon with 4k texture, I'd def advice against unpacking that.
But also to answer your question. As of yesterday the collection decided to change over to use Buffout 4 alone now as Sim Settlements 2: Chapter 3 just took things over the edge and Baka ScrapHeap can no longer keep up without crashing the game.
And with recent mods like Escape Freeze F4SE and Long Loading Times Fix(to be used sparingly as some users get worse results with it installed) the downsides of using the Buffout 4 MemoryManager is essentially negated.
Ok. Thanks for the explanation. I've always had better performance with Buffbaka/Buffout in unison than Buffout alone, despite many telling me it shouldn't be possible ;p I have no idea why though. The engine works in mysterious ways.
Okay, so I'm not an expert and had both BuffBaka and StoryWealth F4SE Settings in my modlist because they were in some recommended mod guides for Fallout 4 in 2023. I updated only these two mods today from their previous versions and trying to load my current game displays the message "Mods are currently loaded. Note: Achievements are disabled. Do you wish to continue loading this save?" Are achievements really disabled or it is simply a placeholder message that I should ignore? Should I remove one for the other?
Could use a bit of advice. I've previously installed Buffout 4 manually, and saw your comment on the Buffbaka page saying that this is no longer needed. Would installing Buffbaka through MO2 still work?
Edit: Made the changes manually and it looks like things are working fine, still appreciate this for giving me a point of reference for the edits
So what I uploaded her accounted for the "new settings file", but after the update over there, the new file was included, and thus wouldn't need it from here anymore :)

If you wanna use them together use the file over there.
Tan girl is due to using "HD Textures" steam DLC. So get rid of that.
Also downloading a few settings files won't run your game as you can easily just uninstall them.
Enable -> ArchiveLimit = True

Is there anyway to check how many Ba2 is active? in Mo2
