Alright, making this one sticky now. As it goes for optimization, there's not much of a difference between other FO4 texture mods, so no worries. DXT1 and DXT5 have proven stable in previous TES and FO games. There aren't any textures which are highly “unoptimized”.
As jonwd7 said: “They use texture formats which are DX10+ and which are not widely supported by DDS tools. This affects normal maps in particular”.
FPS should not be effected that much either. I had no noticeable loss at all on my system. This might won't be the case with other specs, but you always can delete the files.
The funny thing is... The GIMP DDS plugin has supported the 3DC BC5 format for normal maps since 2006:
1.2 (2006-09-1 * Added support for loading/saving 3Dc compressed images. This feature can be used even on systems with video cards that do not support this format in hardware. * Added optional support for software compression. Requires libtxc_dxtn.so on Linux or dxtn.dll on Windows

great rock textures. Close to vanilla style, yet less comic-ish and with more details. The fit in well with vivid landscape textures (see screenshot). Thanks
Thanks 3AMT for this rockin mod! I was never happy with other rock texture mods that made me notice the mod and not the rocks. Your mod is that perfect balance, well done! Best rocks out there.
