When Freedom Calls is one of my least favourite quests in the game. One of the reasons why is simple: when you get into the power armour and grab the minigun, you have two choices for getting down to ground level - either go back inside the museum, wind your way down to the front door, and go outside; or jump off the roof. If choosing the latter option, the only companions who won't take falling damage are the flying robots: Codsworth and pre-upgrade Curie. Anyone else is going to be in need of a stimpak, which will waste precious time while you're being attacked by raiders. The main use of a companion in this quest is to keep the raiders off your back while you teach an overgrown irradiated lizard some manners, so this mod makes for a noticeable improvement in gameplay. Thank you.
You do not have to wear the power armour. Only enter it once and get out again is enough. Also, the minigun must be taken into the inventory, but you do not have to use it. My last survival playthru I killed the deathclaw with 3 sniper bullets and 14 shotgun shells. There is another hidden objective: you have to PERSONALLY kill Gristle the raider. Otherwise the quest is stuck. Hope you'll enjoy the Concord quest unencumbered by Power Armor
I have to say, I'm not entirely sure what relevance your reply has. Myrystyr's problem with the quest has nothing to do with the power armour (at least not inherently), nor did they imply they thought that the quest needed to be completed in power armour (or with the minigun, for that matter).
All they were saying is that 'after' getting the power armour/minigun, you either need to make an annoying detour back through the museum, or jump off the roof, which will result in (most) companions taking enough fall damage to put them in their knockdown state. They were basically just pointing out a moment in the game that highlights how silly this suicidal companion issue is, and by extension why they think this mod improves gameplay.
This mod is a godsend in Survival mode where you're forced to heal or abandon companions that are injured. They should have been immune to fall damage in the regular game...it's just a nuisance when they fall off things and get hurt. It's not worth the "realism" in my opinion.
Another ESP. Too many good mods lately I won't use because I don't want to take another of the ESPs out of my load order. Guess I could download it and hope Wrye Bash says it can be flagged ESL and if not, remove it.
You can just merge mods like this in your custom or any esp you want with FO4Edit. I have probably hundreds of simple mods like this in 1 merged esp. I encourage everyone not familiar with it to watch some tutorials, its really simple.
I'm just so done to spend my games time going down places, because the broken companion placement keep making then dive in the void every time i go up an highway road, buildings, scafolding etc...

I wish I checked for your mod earlier, I endorse it at 100%
