Most recent version has corrected the aim/shot displacement with reflex and iron sights. The trade-off is that both clip through the weapon body/barrel slightly.
2021-07-02 edit - modified the .esp to carry over material keywords so users with Creation Club content can swap paint jobs.
This mod, while simple/lightweight, has drawbacks (anything modifying the Institute Weapon record needs patched, meshes mean it's inherently not compatible with other mods that add or modify the meshes etc) - a nice alternative is "Laser weapons 1st person reposition"
I used this with Better Location Damage mod, and this over-writes the damage for the Institute weapons.
For example: With my upgraded Institute rifle (automatic) it was doing 85 dmg per shot. When I installed this mod to make the institute weapons bearable, i noticed the damage then dropped to 35/shot.
Thank you for the amazing alternative, my only gripe with "Smaller Institute Weapons" was that only institute was affected (duh) and not everything was aligned perfectly when combined with any of the unique weapon re-textures like unique uniques redone/remastered (not Aurora555's fault/problem anyway, just needs a patch) that made unique well... unique.
Not to belittle "Smaller Institute Weapons" or anything, they both have different takes to fix a moronic issue that Bethesda could have actually corrected if they had any idea how a fps view actually worked, I like this mod because it corrects the scale in both 1st person and 3rd person as well as the handling placement and I can see this mod easily patched to work with anything.
Already Had a couple of full runs with "Smaller Institute Weapons" where it worked as advertised without a flaw, thx again for the suggestion for my next play-through.
Sorry for the late reply, will take a look - rifles don't have their own unique Recon mesh hence why this was missed. Will need to look and see if it's possible to add a custom Recon entry in the weapon workbench menu.
Even later reply. You gotta admire the Beth logic at work here.
"Let's use the exact same Recon scopes for every single weapon in the game" "Well, okay, but if we're doing that, which weapon texture or model should we have the Recon scope go well with?" "None of them!" "Brilliant! Have a promotion to Lead Designer!"

Seriously this mod is must have, I love institute weapons, but I can,t deal with it;s size
why is this laser rifle as blocky and big as a fatmen or rocket launcher?
Especially when the institute is the most advanced faction in the commonwealth... once again lazyness from bethesda.

You should be creating a merged bash patch or similar when you use plugin mods like this one.
P.S. Another mod (https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/23102) works better, without recon-bug.
