    Holy crap THANK YOU! Excellent decision to make this mod and I appreciate your other work as well. You're a hero in my book fadingsignal. Also, it's nice to know that I'm not the only one who went to the Nexus looking for something like this because...

    >>> Disclaimer <<<
    If you're the kind of dog person that insists on calling all dogs "good boys", call yourself a "dog mom", and/or make out with dogs every chance you get, stop reading, look away, move on now. I won't apologize for what I have to say beyond this point and I don't care if it gives you big sad feels, you've been warned.
    >>> End disclaimer <<<

    I genuinely started to hate dogmeat because the constant noise was driving me crazy. Nobody including a dog person likes to hear dog whining (especially for no reason) and hearing it all the time just makes you want to put a bullet in his head. The non-stop panting is completely unnatural and the only reason a real dog would do that is if it's roasting hot out. I like dogs as much as any normal person, but even so I do NOT want 90% of the soundtrack from my game to be panting, whining, grumbling, or barking, which is exactly what it ends up being with dogmeat. It feels like this part of the game was put in by someone who just loves their lil' smootchy poochy poo so vewy vewy much and can't understand for the life of them why everyone else doesn't feel the same way or why they start to hate the mutt for being so annoying.

    I particularly appreciate your approach because some dog noises sometimes is fine for the sake of immersion/realism. Key word: sometimes. Hopefully if he'll STFU at least while sneaking it'll keep me from making him swallow a grenade with the pin pulled, but if not I see there's another mod out there that makes him totally silent even though I don't really want to go that far if I can help it.

    Does this also alter Dogmeat barking when you (whisper) a command to him while sneaking?

    FadingSignal: I'm a long-time fan of yours from Skyrim modding so I'll try this based on reputation, but ...

    Really I concur with the others in this thread asking for a total hush option (sneaking or not). The sounds were recorded from the RL German Shepherd of the lead programmer for this game so I'm sure they are authentic, and I'm sure they "mean" something to him. But to me (and others, apparently) in-game the damn dog never shuts the f*ck up. How many times I've come close to filling his head with explosive bullets I lost count. Especially that horrid choking-coughing noise he makes ... it has made me start grinding the enamel off my molars. Please, if you find the time, provide an .esp that removes all Dogmeat vocalizations entirely. I just want him to distract and hold enemies SILENTLY. Until then he has to remain in his doghouse in Sanctuary while the pet Mutant Hound I got from Far Harbor glares at him like he's a tasty snack. Thank you.

      I just searched silent dogmeat and found this mod. Might be what you're after.

      Thanks for that (did several searches myself and never saw that one ... which is odd). However, I tried yours today and I really liked it. MUCH nicer, and since I always play a stealth character I'm in sneak mode most of the time, so basically this will do. The only remaining issue is that godawful choking croak he does over and over (like he has a chicken bone stuck in his throat) when in non-sneak mode, so if that gets on my nerves again I'll give the other one a try (or possibly find which .xwm sound file it is and nullify it myself by inserting a blank sound file -- I don't really want to remove the panting, woofing and barking necessarily, just the croaking). Cheers!

    Excellent!

    Fadingsignal, you play the way I play, NO MUSIC, and 7.1 headphones, I think it's far more awesome to hear the mourning doves, and far off gunfire than idiotic repetitive music the entire time I'm playing, besides, having an entire orchestra following you while playing incidental movie soundtrack music is really stupid and (I HATE to use it, but...) "Immersion breaking"

    For some bizarre reason, Bethesda thinks that all dogs constantly pant and whine 24/7

      Indeed! Although think of it this way; for the average casual gamer on a console, playing on a 40" or smaller LCD TV that is 20 feet away, with likely no more than a stereo sound bar (if that), everything needs to be somewhat blatant. You have a dog? It barks and whines because DOG. You have a heavy gun? It takes up 1/4 of the screen because BIG GUNZ.

      Bethesda seems a bit confused about what they are subtle and what they are over-the-top with, but it's clear they're pushing more into action/adventure rather than RPG territory. Which is kinda sad.

      But I digress. Thankfully mods let me control how I want my game, and I'm happy you enjoy what I've made!

    There's another mod that shuts up his entire whine. I hated hearing him whine while I was crafting.

    Amazing! Just what I was looking for. I love dogs and was really looking forward to having Dogmeat with me on my adventures in the wastelands. But jeez, he is a noisy bugger, especially when you're meant to be SNEAKING and keeping quiet lol.

    Most of the time, he'll make a noise and it'll make me think there is something nearby so when something does actually make noise, I subconsciously ignore it.

    EDIT: Sadly, this doesn't work for me. I seem to be having issues with a lot of mods lately. I'm guessing they're not up-to-date with the current version of FO4 or something. No idea, I'm just speculating here. Lack of GECK is probably screwing with them too.

    Wish they released the bloody thing WITH the game. Would have saved everybody a lot of hassle.

    Immediately after meeting this dog I thought "Fucking mutt just joined up with me and it's already barking at nothing." Then I thought "Well time to alt tab to see if there's a mod that will fix this, otherwise dogmeat's nickname is gonna be a whole lot more literal." (by that I mean I'm gonna fuckin shoot him and eat him.) The only way I'd be okay with it making any sounds at all when I'm not interacting with it is, if it actually barked when there is another creature nearby and/or it whines when it's hurt. So anyways please make a mod that gets him to stfu altogether or only make sounds in specific scenarios like I suggested. Cheese and bacon.
