For the time being I will keep this as modular as possible to assure that work that has been done is secure from accidental damage. I am no fan of long plugin lists but at this point in time its the safest route to follow.

Is not he supposed to be wearing normal armor with this mod?

Will this mod allow me to change his clothing? I don't care for his duster and hat.

I use Fashionable Valentine https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/7035 it works awesome if you only want to change Nick's clothes.

Coming back to your original question..and after taking a look at TUN in Fo4edit...

I didn't mod the existing race but added a custom race named NickValentineRace instead ..which means i had to define bodyparts etc for said race ...all those had to come with their uniquely defined meshes, textures etc. This also applies to the coat and hat.

      In short ...
TUN gives you the ability to change the most important textures and will be fine for 99% of the users imo..while my mod is closer to a framework to fully customise Nick Valentine.

PS.come to think about it i should have used the Creation Kit.
