Hello and thanks so much for downloading :)

If you like this mod please check out our forums at http://farcrymods.freeforums.net/
(we talk about modding and playing all sorts of games including Far Cry 3/4, MGS V, Dying Light, Fallout 3/FNV/4, and more!)

WHAT IS THIS MOD?

This mod simply adds +111 additional tracks to the existing Classical Radio station. The point of this mod is to give users or modders the ability to add their own custom music without overwriting the existing music.

HOW TO INSTALL the MOD

Like most other FO4 mods - drop the .esp file in your data folder. Fire up FO4 and click around to the left of the helmet on the launcher picture near the hoses and you will open up the "super secret plugin loader". Just check the box next to this .esp and you are good to go.

Recently Beth updated a patch which knocked out .esp plugin support. If this happened to you then you will need to manually add this line:
Extra_Tracks_Classic.esp

to your pulgins.txt file found under \Users\[your user name]\AppData\Local\Fallout4\
You may want to also mark that file as read only after you add whatever plugins to it.

Hopefully they revert this change and let us activate plugins via the launcher again.

PS - you could probably also add/activate this through a mod manager like NMM or something else, but i'm unfamiliar with how those work. Sorry I can't help there.

HOW TO INSTALL MUSIC

The mod doesn't actually come with any music. You will need to add your own music (most likely downloaded from other mods). To add your custom music it needs to be in .xwm format that Fallout 4 uses. I'm not an expert on music conversion so if you have your own music and you want to convert it to that format you may need to do some searching on the Nexus site and forums. It has been suggested that MultiXwm by vikichan is very good for this so maybe check out that utility found here - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/3159/?

Once you have music in the right format it's simply a matter of renaming the files and putting them into the correct folder.

Music files need to be named:
MUS001.xwm
MUS002.xwm
MUS003.xwm
etc.

They can be named all the way up to MUS111.xwm

If you have less than 111 tracks that is OK however be aware there may be a few seconds of silence now and again as the game tried to find a valid music track. The less music you have the greater the chance there will be a short few second pause. If you have a full 111 tracks there will never be any kind of silence/pause. If you want you can simply duplicate your music files and rename them to fill up all the slots. It's up to you if you want to go to that much trouble.

Now that you have music in the right format and named the right way - you need to place all of the files in the right place so the game can find them. You need to add them to (create the folders as necessary):

\Data\Sound\fx\mus\radio\ExtraTracks\Diamond\

So you will have:
\Data\Sound\fx\mus\radio\ExtraTracks\Diamond\MUS001.xwm
\Data\Sound\fx\mus\radio\ExtraTracks\Diamond\MUS002.xwm
\Data\Sound\fx\mus\radio\ExtraTracks\Diamond\MUS003.xwm
...and so on

Again just create any folders or subfolders you do not have. So if you don't have a Sound folder then make one and inside of that make a folder called fx, inside of that one called mus and so on.

PLEASE NOTE - If you don't want ANY of the original Diamond City music at all you will need to also overwrite those songs as well which are located here:

Same process as before. Simply create new folders as needed and rename some of your songs to the songs listed above. Correctly named and placed those files will now play instead of the existing ones (giving you MORE than 111 new songs since all the classic music will be replaced)

PLEASE NOTE - TRAVIS
The game will not realize that new tracks have been added so Travis will most likely call out the wrong titles in his intros and outros. There are various ways you might stitch his intros and outros into the music, but that's a fair bit of work (and outside the scope of this mod). My suggestion is to use the mod Travis Begone by XenonsSpork ( http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/2505/? ) to remove his intros/outros.

WARNING!

Modding for F04 is in it's infancy. We are using half baked tools and ideas to shoehorn mods into the game based on all the previous games because the GECK construction kit is not yet available. This mod is most likely perfectly fine and I've made every attempt to make it as clean and safe as humanly possible.

This mod is FAR safer than most of the .esp mods currently on Nexus so if you are already using a mod in your game that adds or changes the way the game is played then you are in no more danger by using this. If you are not using any other .esp mods then you will need to decide if you are OK with using this or if you want to wait until the official construction kit comes out.

DISCLAIMER - it could do terrible things to your game, save file, computer or life. Or it could work perfectly fine. Either way I take no responsibility (blame society). Use this mod (and any mod) at your own risk. I honestly don't think it could cause you any issues, but if it does you have been warned.
Like I tell my kids - "don't come running to me if your legs get chopped off by the mower". ;)

FOR MODDERS - HOW THIS MOD WORKS

The method used by this mod is fairly straightforward. Basically I am taking advantge of the engine's built in ability to select a random sound effect.

Each SNDR sound record contains an LNAM entry which defines the path to the sound file.

SOME sound records contain multiple LNAM entries and when they do the engine selects one of them at random. So for example Dogmeat's sound records contain multiple different barks and whines which keep him from constantly sounding the same way every time he barks (or whines)

The mod takes the existing music sound records (SNDR) and ADDS a few LNAM sub entries to point to the new files. In this way each time the radio quest calls the sound effect the engine will pick one of the listed files randomly.

CAN I INCLUDE THIS MOD IN MY OWN RADIO MOD?

I prefer modders point people to this mod to download it and just offer pre-prepped bundles of music to be used with it, BUT if you have a large and/or popular radio mod you can pm me and I will most likely just let you bundle the esp with your mod (just give me some credit is all I ask).
