My intention was to provide users a "fool-proof" method for building Workshop Workbenches anywhere in the Commonwealth. So, if this isn't "fool-proof", let me know. But please follow all of the instructions before coming here to complain. In particular, remember that the Workshop must be selected when you issue the console commands. Click on the Workshop and make sure that its PRID shows at the top of your screen. Also don't forget to fast travel out of the cell and then return to activate your Workshop completely.

I use this primarily to fix up interior areas -- add some lights, pictures, rugs, do cleanups of all the junk and debris without having to use the CK.

Cheers, I hope you'll get some good use from this.

    EDIT:
    - As always, be sure to read the Description / Instructions and follow them completely.
    - Nope, this DOES NOT build a Settlement -- it is only a Workshop that gives you access to the construction menus. Build a Player Home, add some defense, re-decorate, build some workbenches, etc.

EDIT: Several people have asked about making their installed Workshop into a settlement center. I would recommend Build New Settlements and Camping for that. This mod was aimed at a quick and dirty way to place a Workshop anywhere you want one using only console commands.

What happened to the spawn workshop grenades? I used to be able to craft them, throw them anywhere and boom, a workshop... Been away a couple years, came back to get the mod again only to see that it's a "how to" rather than an actual mod.... :( Really loved that mod too

This is hugely late, and I am only a mod user, not a mod author at all.
But, perhaps the Grenade version of this mod is available through Bethesda.net?
This mod is there. I have not downloaded it from here or there yet. But I am familiar with the Grenade version of opening this mod's Workbench. And Bethnet is the only thing I can think of.

Good Luck. I hope you have already found a way to get the version you're looking for. Perhaps this comment will help others looking for that version too. :-)

I was able to spawn in Workshop, which did land crooked angle, but, I had to do things a little different to fix the angle because of a couple of mods I have... So I still had to get rid of enemies after using the commands for "ownership" & "visited". But I couldn't use commands "setangle x 0" to fix it's angle. I just had to enter the workshop mode with "v" (part of a mod to open workshop away from it), then I just click on the workshop and it realigns it's angles to place it back down. Thanks for the info that was helpful though!  And with mods, hard to say what things are gonna be done differently.

While you recommend using SKK Mobile Workshop,  that mod doesn't work the same as yours does.  His mod only allows one instance of the mobile workshop.  You can move it around but there is still only one.  With your mod I like to set up one of your workshops near each of a half dozen enemy hot spots that I go by frequently so that I can throw their corpses into an auto-butcher/robot disassembler machine.  At one point in the past I had two of your workshops as extensions to my Conquest Settlement headquarters.  That worked well.  I still use one of your workshops as an extension of my Conquest Settlement at the National Guard Training Yard so that I can get rid of the cars and skeletons out front.

There are a lot of good uses for your mod that the Mobile Workshop mod doesn't fill.  I would like to see you put your mod back.

Well, thank you. I'm glad to hear that you're getting some good use from it. The mod is still there as a manual download -- it's just a list of instructions on how to install a workshop.
I didn't realize that about the SKK mod. I've used it once or twice, just to verify that it works.

This tutorial is rather old, but Cornell s still active so may be monitoring... I am using these two commands to take over workshops in existing settlements, but I would wager the same issues exist with placing new workshops...My issue is that the workshops do not get onto the Pipboy's data>workshop screen. If anyone knows how to do this I would be so grateful...

That's right these are just "consoled" objects that aren't tied into the game's bookeeping -- won't show on the Pipboy map and they aren't settlements. I use them as a quick and dirty way to add/fix up a player home in the middle of nowhere ( for example, or to add somethings I need say in Quincy for example. I used it to build Clint's HQ on the highway overpass.

There's a much better mod available now from SKK -- Mobile Workshop. It does have a map marker. I'm not sure I know what you meant by Pibboy's data>workshop screen, other than a map marker.

I mean that if used on a settlement, it doesn't really add the settlement as an 'owned' settlement to the game. The settlement won't show up on your PipBoy's data>workshop screen, you can't move settler's to that settlement nor add that settlement to a supply line. I can see where it might come in handy, like in croup manor's basement, but I would think that there might be some issues with over-lapping workshop areas. Or maybe not, as it is in a separate world-space.

I initially did this at mystic pines. But after downloading campsite and trying it out at another location, i wanted mystic pines to become a named settlement. Currently i can build but cannot assign NPCs nor use sim settelements. I know campsite added a proxy script for the workshop script so it got a name etc and becomes a playbable settlement. I tried removing the workbench via console, which it does, but the area is still a workshop 'v' open workbench. Does anyone know a reverse of this that removed the workbench area etc.

This mod doesn't have anything to do with new settlements or Sim Settlements. I've used the camping mod -- Conquest Build New Settlements -- in a limited fashion. (I assume that is mod you mean by "campsite.") Transfer Settlements BPs works better with a named settlement and that's all I've ever used it for. I can't help you with the settlement issues, I'm afraid.

"but the area is still a workshop 'v' open workbench. Does anyone know a reverse of this that removed the workbench area etc." That I can help you with. Load an earlier save.

Was using this a long while ago and just did a reinstall and started playing again. Works perfectly for placing the workshop, but does anyone know why I wouldn't be able to scrap piles of trash and everything else with these placed workshops? Scrapping everything works perfect in actual settlements and stock workshops, but not with these placed workshops. I can only scrap base game stuff. Any help is appreciated!

I can scrap most things it seems. I use Scrap Everything mod -- it seems to work pretty well. I haven't noticed the difference between a placed workshop and one in a settlement. I guess you would have to show me an example. There are some things that cannot be scrapped -- ground elements that form the "world" for example.

Cormell is correct, some trash piles are actually parts of the ground "pulled" up and through objects. You'd have to use CK to move them down and out of the way.

In some areas It shows me the workshop menus but im unable to place any object, it just does a clicking noise but doesnt place anything. yet in other areas its fine. Its a bit like if you try to place a water pump when not on soil yet it does it with everything?

Try using the mod Place Everywhere. It allows you to place objects, as it says, everywhere -- in walls, below ground, etc.

I have that and it does usually but for some reason not in some internal cells
