As far as I can tell, settlers only raid the Workshop container, no? I've always put "valuables" in any other unlocked container, and it seems the settlers have ignored it.
Apparently some people have experienced them taking items from normal containers as well. I haven't witnessed it myself yet, but made this just to be sure.
@EdwardECL That's how the mod works. It unlocks on activate then locks on close.
@PaddyGarcia The script does lock on close. However I have no idea how I haven't thought about just giving the player a key instead of unlocking it on activate. I will update it to be that way tomorrow
EDIT: I just remembered why I didn't use a key. Determining which key a locked object belongs too is done through the Reference window in the Editor and is currently not possible to set through a script or Base of an object.
settlers absolutely can and will loot any and all of your containers in the event of a raid. They do this when the container contains any weapon and corresponding ammo that is better than what the settler currently carries (base values). they also do this when the container contains a weapon that is better than the one the settler currently has if the settler has ammo for it in their inventory. presumably if one doesn't want their settlers to nab their gear, they simply need to keep the weapons and ammo in a separate container. I haven't tested this however. another way is to make sure that your settlers all have the best possible weapons you can give them, or at least high damage weapons. Combat shotguns work pretty well in my experience.
I just had a passing Minutemen patrol raid my unlocked container and take my legendary plasma rifle. So they definitely do take stuff out of random containers. I'm going to try this mod because this is exactly what I am looking for, somewhere I can lock.
you could just find an ingame safe that has a key copy it with the key and just empty the safe. put a key in the players home to use or straight into the inventory it dont have to be a custom safe just a keyed one. just for a reference wicked shipping has a safe in one of the trucks that has a key you could use that for the player safe
I keep my legendary items in diamond city homeplate where no settlers are available to steal as it is also a limited build-able settlement area. With PC commands you can console lock containers in other settlements if need be. Good fer keepin' dem peske brahmin that roam around, corralled. No more steppin' in cow patties, yuck, yuck! You can use ammo .bat files to give settlers in-game to avoid looting ammo. Fusion cells...homeplate, yep keep them on your person or let your companions carry them. With weapons, break them down for the mods and components or leave them for the settlers. You can build better weapons (without perks) and give those to your settlers...if they keep having sticky fingers. Other than that, let them take weapons from looting corpses or containers. Give you one less job to do! You probably have better weapons than settlers do anywho!
Yeah, it's a simple process to create extra assets that do the same thing, but it would be time consuming as it each asset adds up. Are there specific assets you would like to see being personally locked?

I always make sure never to leave fusion cores in power armour.
About the key thing, you could always make a script to open the container on activate if it's the player then lock the safe, I'm sure that might work.
Or unlock safe if x item is in player inventory bypassing the game check and the annoying speech

Any chance we could get other containers that act the same? like lockers etc...
Thanks for the great mod
