A fantastic addition to any minigun enjoyers. I don't mind the barrel glow in and of itself. But sometimes it just glows white hot for no reason at all (bug). So a mod to remove it was the solution. 😍
As far as I can tell the barrel-glow is simply a visual effect and its only purpose beyond that seems to be to play upon my "trained behavior" as it were, of "uh oh better let this thing cool off a bit lest it lock up / warp the barrel(s) / start an ammo cook off." etc.
It is simply just a light effect that happens, yes. Didn't make much sense to me that the barrel would be glowing so hot that its almost melting after only 3 seconds of firing. Big purpose of multi barrels is to help prevent overheating.
I've never seen that happen with a minigun. Ever. I've seen miniguns firing almost continuously for hours (at rates of more than 2000 rpm), only stopping to get more ammo, and never once did any of the barrels start to glow outside of infrared. If you're on infrared then it's lit up like a goddamn Christmas tree, though.
