I've got a question, does the main mod file change .308 to 7.62 in name only, so that the handmade rifle is not in fact using the same ammunition types as the old .308's and new 7.62's?

if there's two different ammo sources, is there a way you could make an ESP, that makes the handmade rifle use the same (was .308 now 7.62) ammo as the other (was .308 now 7.62) ammo?

I'm not asking for myself I know how to do it but honestly your idea's pretty brilliant and I didn't even think about it, and I just realized that if you're following traditional fallout balancing technically the burst fire rifles tended to use similar ammo and come later on as compared to the normal hunting rifle (although I think those ones used .223 if I recall but still...) this way, there's a direct upgrade possible using similar ammunition from bolt action rifle to ---> semi auto/automatic rifle

I realize that given the modification system on weapons themselves ingame and how perks work this might not exactly be true, but if this were in it'd pave the way for some rebalancing specifically to deal with this sort of thing

All the mod does is just change the names; beyond what you see in the UI, it's all still the same thing under the hood. It's why the Nuka World edition renames the Handmade Rifle's ammo to "Handmade Rifle Rounds" to avoid confusion.

As for your request, it's outside of the scope of the mod, and personally, I like the idea of guns designed postwar using ammo designed postwar. Still, why not? I don't need to make two versions of it, and hey, more practice in the Creation Kit never hurts! I'll have something up by tonight. I need to dummy out all instances of the Handmade ammo from all leveled lists and shops, and replace it with your requested ammo.

UPDATE: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/21854/? Please report any instances of 7.62 that show up.
