About this mod

Increases the damage threshold of follower-specific armors to make them less flimsy.

Requirements
Permissions and credits
If you use difficulty enhancing mods like NPC Level Scaling, then you may notice your squishy unarmored followers have a tendency to be unable to keep up with the damage they are receiving.

You could give them armor, but if you are like me, you prefer them to have their unique look and unique clothing instead of some random armor you found/modded for them. You could also steal their armor and try to mod it with ballistic weave, but that's expensive, time consuming, tedious, and doesn't even work with followers like Nick (his coat is a unique, non-playable variant.) not to mention being unable to do until you are high enough level to craft rank five, and have unlocked it from the railroad.

What this mod does:
Increases the Damage Thresholds of the unique, companion-only armors, to the equivalent of Ballistic Weave V. This does not add ballistic weave, so in theory you could double the DT of certain followers by applying it, which I personally don't see as a big problem late-game. (Danse will still out armor everyone, and his power armor is indestructible) This does not apply it to their hats or any other equipment.

Super Mutant and Dog armors are also given better numbers, though not nearly as strong as ballistic weave, this will only affect the armor you can find for strong, not the non-lootable armor worn by normal super mutants. Raider attack dogs wearing armor however, will be tougher as a result, which I felt was fine and made sense.

Robots are completely left alone, while Codsworth now technically has lower DT than Preston, Codsworth has better weapons, and with Automatron can be armored up and made much stronger.

Its fairly simple, and inelegant way of doing this, I didn't want to spend that long working on this and there does not seem to be a easy way to force their armor to have ballistic weave equipped.

Followers outfits modified:

Preston's Colonial Duster
Piper's Trenchcoat
Nick's Trenchcoat
Cait's Corset
MacCready's Duster
Dogmeat's Dog Armors*
Strong's Super Mutant Armor
X6-88's Courser Uniform**
Old Longfellow's Hunter Coat
Gage's Armor
Hancock's Frock Coat

* - Collars and bandanas have not been given a defense value, as I feel they should be purely cosmetic, with exception to the "Reinforced Dog Collar" which actually has armor plates.

** - This one was tricky, X6-88 doesn't actually wear a unique clothing item, but being a courser, the courser uniform is his look. Instead I created a duplicate of the Courser Uniform (its 100% identical, except for its damage resistances, and name) and replaced the Courser Uniform in his outfit file with it. If you are not playing a new game, he may not have it equipped, you can either use a console command to add it to your inventory and give it to him (type "Help X6 4" to find it, its named "X6-88's Uniform") Or by clicking him and typing "resetinventory" (This will cause any items you have given him to be lost! Empty his inventory first!)

Human Curie is not affected, as she is just wearing a generic clothing item, and doesn't have a personalized look, as she has only just been brought into the world of being bipedal, and hasn't been wandering the wasteland for her whole life like everyone else. So in my opinion it comes down to the player to help equip her and prepare her for the harsh world of the commonwealth.

Deacon is also not affected as he too has no definite "look" due to his constant "disguise" swapping, and frankly I'm not touching his massive inventory of outfits and scripting to automatically switch outfits with a ten foot pole :P He's supposed to be sneaky anyway, so if you want him to fight, give him armor yourself.

Danse is not affected for a really obvious reason.

Compatability:
This is not compatible with any mods that change follower clothing. (Retexture mods lacking a .esp file should be fine however) This includes mods like "We are the minutemen" Preston will be wearing a new coat entirely.

This mod will still work alongside these mods, but the followers who have new outfits will not receive this mods benefits from them.

REQUIREMENTS:
Far Harbor
Nuka World

(Sorry, but I make mods for myself first, and don't cater to people who lack the dlc. If you want to make a dlc-less version and put it up yourself, feel free, just be sure to credit me! Otherwise consider this more incentive to pick up the season pass during one of the many sales where it is 50% or more off.)

Check out my profile for other mods, I typically do rebalances and tweak mods (and have ones im far more proud of and put far more work into than this!)
