This is the first time I modded anything ever, so if you notice any mistakes/things that could be improved, please comment.

Also, if you use any other texture replacers for the flags and are experiencing any issues, please point me to the mod and I will see what i can do to fix those.

And last but not least, please let me see the mod in your games and post screenshots

Please help me. Why can not I see flickering flags and flagpoles in my workplace?

I assume you mean animated? If so, you're in the wrong place, mine are static. You may want to try these http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/9446/?

That got it. At 92.5% they go right to the very top of the ceiling but they fit everywhere I tried it with vanilla floors, wall and roof. Green and placeable everywhere.

There could be an odd wall or ceiling that does not work because it does go right to the top, but not any of the main modular building materials.

Perhaps in the final version a 90% reduction would cover it all.

These flagpoles and the table top versions are outstanding and a perfect little mod to really fill a special niche in the mods for FO4. Well done!

Thank you so much for testing and the feedback!

Got the update out today. I've gone with the 92.5% for now. I also added the option to move all flags in the deco>wall>flags category, so they are easier to get to.

      Thanks again!

FYI when 2.2 (Faction Dependent) was posted it did add the MM flag back into the preview but the size of the taller flagpole (not the tabletop) does not fit in the vanilla buildings. Did it revert back to the original size when you updated to fix the missing MM flag?

By the way those little table top flags are outstanding! Thanks for adding those.

Which vanilla building are you referring to exactly? Because I tried this (again just now) in several of the prefabs from the wood/metal/box car categories and they fit in all of them. They do not fit into sanctuary buildings, but those have very low ceilings, and I did not want to make the poles that short by default. For unusally low ceilings I recommend Place Everywhere, which let's you scale objects up or down.

Btw., all the short flag poles have the same height, because they use the exact same model. Difference in appearance comes from texture swaps. (Just to be sure I just checked again, and the Minutemen flag points to the correct model.)

That must be the issue. The prefabs must have a higher ceiling than the buildings you construct with separate floors, walls and roofs. The more modular pieces are used when you really want to create elaborate multi level buildings. I guess that drawback is that the floors have lower ceilings.

Thanks for checking it out. Good luck.

Oh, I was not aware that there is a difference in ceiling height between prefabs and self-built structures (so far, I have mostly been editing what's already there, rather than building complex structures myself). I will look into that again.

Sooo, I reduced the size to 80% and it still won't let me place it between two wooden floors...

      See: http://pasteboard.co/smslVIhDD.jpg

I'm afraid I have no clue what the issue is there.

If you want add that 80% file to your file list and I will give it a try. The table top poles work fine so this should be no different as long as it fits.

Most of my settlements have some modular buildings so I can test it out all over.

Thanks for the offer, but the mesh size does not seem to be the issue. I also tried reverting the mesh back to its original size and then, in game, I scaled it down to 95% with place everywhere. THAT could be placed in that space without a problem. I'll have to look into that again when I have a little more time and figure out what I'm doing wrong.

Figured it out! Apparently, if you scale an object in NifSkope the collsion object does not scale with it. Instead, you have to make your own. Which i now did. I also made the whole thing a little bit smaller (it is now 92,5% of the original size). Now fits between two wooden floors. I added the mesh to the files under miscellaneous. If you could test it before I make the proper update, I'd appreciate it!

I'll check it out tonight when I get home. Probably about 5 hours from this post.

Just to make sure, I just need to drop the downloaded file into the correct folder and nothing else. Leave the original mod (2.2) installed and activated. Thanks.

I'll let you know how it works.

I suggest adding a waving flag and add a flag hanging by a pole that is attached to a wall... http://weclipart.com/gimg/4171FF0CB7969BDD/american-flag-on-pole-1314416.jpg

Thank you for your suggestion! However, what I did with this mod (and with my lamps mod) was mesh up existing assets to create something new. Both the short flag pole and the table flag are already in the game files, I simply made them craftable and swapped textures. The lamps were more complicated than that, but I still did not have to create anything from scratch. 3d-modelling and texturing something entirely from scratch is, unfortunately, not within my skill set.

I will look into mashing up these flag poles with the animated waving flag when I have a little more time. If they turn out alright I will add them to this mod.

The table top flags are perfect! A nice addition to the game.

Just to let you know that I unistalled the old version and loaded the new 2.1 version. The original standing flags and the table tops now both show up. However I noticed that the original flags had an issue.

On this toon I have 3 unlocked so far. MM, BS and USA. When I installed the new 2.1 version I got all 3 table tops but the original MM standing flag was missing from my selection. When I scroll through the preview I see BS and USA for the original flags and BS, MM and USA for the table tops.

I went to a settlement where I previously made the original MM flag and it was still there, I just could not make a new one. Again the table tops were all there in the preview but the MM was now missing from the originals.

Let me know if you see anything on your end. Those table top flags are outstanding!

Loving this mod! I do have a suggestion if you did want to build on this niche.

The height of the flagpole is slightly taller than the vanilla building walls so if you build vanilla interiors, spaces that are a single floor, you will not be able to use these inside. I do not know if the height is dictated by the flag itself, but if there is a way to slightly shrink the size it could fit indoors in vanilla settlement buildings. It only misses fitting by a small amount.

To build on that if it is possible to shrink these to any size a small table version would be nice too! Again thanks for creating and good luck!

Thank you for your suggestions! I looked into it and both of these things were pretty easy to do (once I figured out how to find anything in NifSkope...). So I made an update. Enjoy!

I don't believe this has been done before as a small stand alone mod. These are some of the best mods on the nexus. Small mods that address a specific item and help add to the atmosphere of the game.

Well done and thanks for posting this great little mod!

One question. I use a great flag texture replacer aleady for the wall hanging flags. Do you think this will interfere with those flag textures? Thanks!

      Thank you for the feedback!

I'm using a texture replacer myself and it works great with those flagpoles (see 2nd image). I don't see any reason why others shouldn't, but you'll have to try it out.

I did not touch the textures (the .dds files a texture replacer would replace) but the material files (.bgsm) which contain settings for textures and shaders. For the US and Minutemen flags, what I needed is already in the base game files, so I just used those and created 3 new ones for the other factions.

PS: If they work with the replacer you use, it would be great if you could post a screenshot here (just put the name of the replacer mod in the title).

PPS: If there are any issues, please point me to the mod and I will see if I can fix those.

HA! Now that I look at all the pictures I see that the flags are different and in fact the 3rd pic has the textures that I use.

      http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/10720/?

This flag replacer mod is the best one on the nexus IMHO and I would hate to go without it. Now I can add it on the stand up poles too! Outstanding!
