I always wondered what happened to good old Australia in the Great War. I wonder if they are just as messed up as the US or have they remained mostly intact? Guess we'll never know.
Don't see why Australia would be messed up i imagine it would be intact for the most part, we have no strategic value and doubt we posed a major thread in the Fallout universe compared to other countries.
Australia has huge strategic value in a nuclear and post nuclear age. A massive missed opportunity, really. The likely situation is that the plot/scenario/creative writers behind the Fallout lore set in Fallout 1 and expanded in Fallout 2, were simply ignorant of the massive influence the Australian mining, raw materials and nuclear waste handling industries have throughout the world.
Male Red Kangaroos are already built like super mutants and kick as hard as deathclaws swip. Wombats are basically IEDs in that hitting a few of them on the road are enough to f**k up most small to medium sized vehicles. On top of that their are thousands of wild dogs and dingos, highly venomous snakes and spiders, etc. Rural Australia is basically a Fallout landscape minus the guns.
i think australia would have a pretty large impact in the fallout universe, but i think we (aus) will be intact. first off australia has huge amounts of fossil fuels so im assuming while china was still buying off us, the US came and started buyin all our stuffs. australia was then deemed empty thus led china vs america. america tried all the places they could while so did china. (insert entire battle of anchorage war here). i believe australkia was sided with both china and america and australia mostly did not retaliate to this conflict and possibly was not targeted at all. of course radiation would still pour into australia from indonesia and the oceanic islands, but not enough to start ghouls, and only cause minor radiations. maybe faster kangos. possibly massive fukin wombats. dunno.

One of the real failings of the Fallout universe is its refusal to address what happened in other parts of the world.
FFS, over two hundred years have passed, so at the very least there would be radio traffic between continents, and someone is bound to have figured out how to build a boat again. Although there was that Aussie chick in the quarry in FNV, so we are clearly getting around, even if her storyline didn't make any sense of her accent.
Fallout Australia would be cool (and lets not forget about the hoop snakes!), but IMHO, I'd rather see fallout England, with proper castles and s#*! from the medieval era being repurposed for post apocalyptic survival.
@Timrox99. Its a shame that you feel the need to explicitly deny "racist implications", such is the hijacking of our flag by a small minority, most who've never served our country in any way.
Also, would it be possible to get a cleaner version? I see no reason why one couldn't make a properly dyed flag 200 years hence.

@timrox99. Without going too deeply into politics and at the risk of offending people, two decades ago, nobody would have even assumed that there could be a racist reason for uploading the Aussie flag. Then Pauline Hanson came along and racists have been draping themselves in the flag ever since.
Well without exports from other countries and possible radiation being carried by the wind from China, Australian society would probably start to crumble. Maybe not like Mad Max Fury Road level but perhaps Mad Max 1 level where its still fairly civilised but there are alot of gangs etc. But we'd definitely be better off then America (Unless Australia became a Nuclear Target in fallout)
The whole point of Fallout is the post apocalyptic America not Australia if Bethesda wanted to make a post apocalyptic Australia they would have made done it years ago, this mod is a massive fail to me.
America is boring as full of Americans, who are obnoxious and the last people anyone would want to spend living in a post-post apocalypse with, whereas Australia already looks like it has been hit by nukes if you go a few hours inland and let's be honest, the people are better to be around.
The Lore has been raped enough after Fallout 2 that the setting is essentially irrelevant and Bethesda are only using locations to pander to the marketplace.
