The Mod is well done, but...... I don't really like MacCready's voice, mainly because it goes against his personal style. His voice should be more interesting.

Were the voices actually re-done or did someone just tweak the pitch in Audacity?

I think the Hancock voice came out pretty well (for a female ghouls that is).

Has anyone figured out a way to make her an actual female ghoul instead of what she looks like now?

Added an optional .esp file to make Female Hancock a ghoul again. Please see the new image and the installation instructions on the "FILES" page.

    Heya

    First of all, good work!
Hancock's voice is awesome, even McCready came out quite nice.
Both sound ALOT better than i've expected!

    Thanks for sharing your work.

As i hear the request to 'pre-hear' the changes, and hear you not wanting a YT account, here we go: -> https://youtu.be/KLQlBur4OvA <-
It is not listed, so one will only see it by that link.

I'd really like to have them both in a single NMM file.
I understand it is a pain to write those xml files manualy, so i've used this for my mods: -> http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/6821 <-

Thanks again and hope this helps

    EDIT:
Note, allthough i have some videos, i'm not a 'youtuber', or a 'mod review'. The video shall give an impression, nothing more, nothing less.

    EDIT2:
Oh yes, and both zipfiles show their names as "Hankcock & McCready".
Could you please change their shown names?

      Hey Sephrajin,

It's been really nice of you to go through the effort of making the video. Really enjoyed it. Thank you very much. I guess it should be added to the mod description page. Not quite sure how to do that yet, but I'll figure it out. That is, if you don't mind. Naturally with all due credits.

I don't know much about modding - made this conversion mainly for the fun of tweaking the voices to get an acceptable result (well... and a couple of new chicks to hang out with ). The need to figure out how the FO4 tools worked (and even more so, how to properly post the mods here on Nexus) was "collateral damage". Anyway I am happy you liked the outcome.

I deliberately made two separate NMM mods for those who might want to have only one of them modded. Figured it would be easier to install/uninstall the unwanted mod than to fiddle with FO4Edit hacking out the unwanted NPC from a combined .esp. And making two posts with identical mod descriptions didn't seem to make sense.

If you prefer them combined - fine by me. Please feel free to do whatever works best for you. I didn't quite understand your "EDIT2" though. The files in the "FILES" tab here have different names and keep them after being downloaded. Or is it elsewhere that "both zipfiles show their names as "Hankcock & McCready"? Please clarify. Your predicament may be a result of using the FOMOD Creator Tool you referred to, but unfortunately I am out of my depth to help you with that.

Thanks again for a great and informative video! Keep on having fun.

      UPD:
Added your sound sample video to the mod description page. Thank you very much one more time!

Been reading through the comments and answers without finding my dilemma. Tried this before and didnt succeed, and thought it may have been the reason for the black face glitch. As it happened same time I installed the Ultra High Resolution Textures DLC, and at the time it didnt cross my mind that DLC would cause this. Followed this video to get black face glitch "fixed" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bq8cRrQsQFM&t=425s.
So started a new game and went straight to Goodneighbour, Hancock looking great as female and down in Third Rail MacCready is still his old self. I have downloaded this using NMM and reinstalled inside it, but always that same result. How do I fix this?
Really do love the premiss for this, and wouldnt mind see most "human" companions as females.

Sorry for the delay - I haven't been visiting Nexus for a while.

      1. Did you install BOTH mods? There are two (independent) files to download and install - one for Hancock and one for MacCready.
      2. If you did - please make sure that the "Female MacCready" mod is activated (turned on / checked) in the NMM Plugin section the same way as the "Female Hancock" mod is?

Both mods are made in EXACTLY the same manner - sex/appearance change through an .esp file and voice processed and packed into a corresponding Main.ba2 file. Please make sure that you have the "Female MacCready.esp" and the "Female MacCready - Main.ba2" files in your .../Fallout 4/Data/ folder the same way as you (apparently) have those files for Hancock.

I won't be making any more transgender companions, but if you want them all - you could check out JINA's mods with hatchet47's voice makeovers for some of them (links can be easily found via Search tool on top of page). Have fun!

p.s Can't make no comments on the HR Textures DLC. IMHO the storage footprint is not worth the effect. Looks more like a NVIDIA marketing trick to me. Or maybe it's just because I don't have a 4K monitor...

Never found anything separate for MacCready to install, sorry. So that matter then explained. Came across similar problem from someone else, 2 mods in 1 download, only 1 set shown in NMM even if both names shown. Sorry, but with that I just have no clue to how to access the 2nd mod instead of the 1st.

For High Res Texture pack DLC (free) from Bethesda, just leave it alone. There is just to much collision and blackend face going on when using mods. You are truly better off without it.

I hope you have figured it out. There are TWO mod files that should be downloaded MANUALLY from the "Files" page. When installed via NMM (the big green plus sign on the Mods tab) the NMM recognizes them as separate mods with respective names.

I felt it didn't make sense to publish two different posts with very similar descriptions and couldn't foresee your problem since I never use the DOWNLOAD WITH MANAGER feature. I have removed this option from the "Files" page so that nobody has this problem again.

Thank you for bringing this glitch to my attention, and sorry for the inconvenience. Hope you double your fun now!

lame that you removed the option of it, i recently deleted the handcock one, and found out i needed both, i tryed manual but it seemed to not work properly, as such im going to remove this mod from my list... (sigh) to bad, i liked it too... in truth i know its installed, because maccreadly's voice is still your mod's voice, but it looks like his vanilla self... o well ill have to figure something out

I don't quite understand what your problem might be. After manually downloading the archive you need from the "Files" page (pretty much like downloading any file from the Internet) just use NMM to add the mod to the game - click the big green "plus" sign in the "Mods" tab and point to the just downloaded file in your browser Downloads folder. Then activate the mod by selecting it in the "Mods" tab and clicking the green "check" sign (right under the big green "plus" one).

A "bonus feature" of this approach is that even if you uninstall the mod from the NMM "Mods" tab (Right click -> Delete mod (permanently) and uninstall), the downloaded archive still remains in your browser Downloads folder (or wherever you might have moved it) so you can easily re-install it again.

If something does not work right - uninstall (delete) both mods (or just the one that doesn't work right) and re-install them (it) again, then make sure that you have the "Female MacCready.esp" and the "Female MacCready - Main.ba2" files (for MacCready) and/or the "Female Hancock.esp" and the "Female Hancock - Main.ba2" files (for Hancock) in your .../Fallout 4/Data/ folder.

After (re)installing these mods you should either start a new game or use a save made before you first encounter them in Goodneighbor. Hope this helps.

The mod(s) might have not installed correctly or mods are not enabled in your copy of Fallout4.

1.Please check the link provided in the "INSTALLATION" part of the mod description and make all the necessary configuration changes to enable mods in Fallout 4.
      2. Install the mod(s) with NMM and make sure that the files "Female Hancock.esp", "Female Hancock - Main.ba2" and/or "Female MacCready.esp", Female MacCready - Main.ba2" have copied into your "...\Fallout 4\data\" folder.
      3. After installing the mod(s) with NMM make sure the mod(s) are present in the NNM's Plugins tab and enabled in the NNM's Mods tab.

Another (very unlikely) reason for the mod(s) not to work might be that you have unpacked copies of the original Hancock's and/or MacCready's voices in your "...\Fallout 4\data\Sound\Voice\Fallout4.esm\" folder. Please make sure those original voice file copies don't exist and delete them if they do.

I would be happy to know if you were able to resolve the issue. Good luck!

Everything seems to be in order, though the description does not say exactly which line related to this mod should be in the configuration file. I had to do it before but the line was provided...

The only voice I have in Fallout4.esm folder is the voices for the player characters.

There are are no special lines related to this mod - the instructions are for activating any mods, i.e. allowing the game to get data from the files in the Data folder (when such files exist), and not from the Fallout4.esm file as the game does by default.

If the companions' gender has changed, then the mods are active and the voices should have changed too. I come to think they may not have changed as drastically as you had expected them to. As I wrote below, there are certain limitations to what one can do when transforming a voice. My objective was to make "plausibly sounding" voices without audible distortion artifacts to match the new female versions of Hancock and MacCready, rather than make "true female" voices. The latter, I'm afraid, is not possible by sound post-processing means.

You might prefer the MacCready voice mod from hatchet47 (http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/11694/?) - female voice conversions for Jina's transgender NPCs. He did not provide a female Hancock voice though. The original "ghoul" voice distortion artifacts turned out to be a bit too strong I guess.

If you want to use my character (looks) - just install the sound files into the path provided by his "FemaleMacCready.7z-11694-1-02.7z" file. They should override my "Female MacCready - Main.ba2" sound in the Fallout4\Data\ folder. Or simply uninstall my mods and use Jina's mod along with hatchet47's voice conversion.

Sorry if the mods didn't work up to your expectations.

No, I mean the voices really don't change. It would be easy to understand some slight changes, especially in Hankock's voice. The models have indeed changed. You don't have to apolegise. I know it's not easy to change the voice of a NPC... someone tried with Preston and damn that was atrocious. Someone did it for a female replacer for Ulfric in Skyrim but a woman had to record every single line of Ulfric's dialogue. Out of curiosity, which software did you use to alter the voices?

If the NPCs' appearance changed and the voices didn't, the only thing I can suggest is you uninstall the mods completely and try re-installing them again. Or unpack my "- Main.ba2" files into "NPCMHancock" and "NPCMMacCready" folders within your "...Fallout 4\Data\sound\Voice\Fallout4.esm" folder - same way as you have your player characters voices which appear to work.

I was able to get access to a rig with pretty nifty Izotope RX software using Adobe Audition as host for Ozone and Nectar plugins.

Try Fruity Loops (windows) or Pro Tools (Mac). Your options might be better with those, speaking from personal experience. Anyhow, the models of the characters are great. I especially like Hankock's model. That hat really suits her. and the MacCready voice from that link is atrocious... sounds like a baby cyborg... I'll stick with yours. Doesn't really bother me, since I had a female gym teacher with a voice more manly than mine.

I used what was available and I don't think the host software really matters as long as it can handle the required filter plugins. Thank you for your support. Have fun!

Could you perhaps add a video to show off the voice changes? Also, I don't think external links to ripped content is allowed. You might want to change that link.

I could make a short video, but I don't have a youtube account to post it to and provide a link here. As for "ripped content" - the external download link to the "MiscHairstyle1.6 by Atherisz" mod is being referred to many times here on Nexus, as required for many LooksMenu presets and character mods posted here. So the link reference itself should be quite legit.

The "rip" was an unexpected result of my trying to make the CreationKit to generate characters with non-vanilla hairstyles. It is my programing ineptitude that prevented me from making the mods require MiscHairstyle.esp as a master. I would do that if I knew how. And then again, I did explicitly recommend installing the MiscHairstyle mod in my mod description - so my conscience is clear.

You can refer to the MiscHairstyles mod, but I don't think you can post a direct link to it. I know I've never seen a direct link to it anywhere on here.

You turned out to be right! I did some checking and all the direct links to MiscHairstyle1.6 that were available on Nexus a few days ago have been purged. Changed my mod description accordingly.

      Thanks for the alert!

It takes more time than installing/uninstalling a mod to check it out, especially when one has no need for such an account. I made those mods for myself and shared them for those who might enjoy them. I'd be happy to know if people had fun using them. If somebody feels that checking them out is too much of a hassle - it is their rightful choice which I understand and respect.

These mods do not affect anything except for the companions' appearance and voices. Tried to reproduce your situation with Female MacCready as active companion - everything worked fine.

My guess is you encountered a general game glitch or might have spinned the letter ring wrong. After the letter sequence is entered correctly, the blocking wall should open irrespectively of any mods installed (the correct wall-opening sequence is not linked to any quest stage and seems to be just an animation script trigger).

I suggest you exit the game to Desktop, then restart it, load a regular Savegame (not a Quicksave or an Exitsave) saved before you first entered the Old North Church and try entering the RAILROAD sequence again. Hope this helps.
