If you find an over/under Caravaner's gun like the 20 gauge shotgun in Fallout NV in 12 gauge or 45-70 or both, I think you sure could pretty it up nice. I know the 45-70 was used to kill buffalo and grizzly bear in the late 1800's on the American Plains. Might work alright on a death-claw too.
That is actually a problem with how Bethesda wrapped the textures onto the meshes themselves and you don't really notice it on their guns because all guns are rusty and ugly, but trust me, it's there.
There's also a lot of pieces of the mesh which use the same part of a texture and thus have overlapping textures.
