Heads up. I just found a pretty major bug that stops the mod from working after entering a power armor. While I don't understand why it happens, it's now fixed in the latest version in the download section.

      I solved the problem myself
It was caused by a conflict regarding NPC date (00000007)
The conflicting mods were "Follower Revive System.esp" and "TrackingMarker.esp"

"Progressive Weapon Perks" is a great mod
Thank you for making an interesting mod

sadly this doesnt work with the modern game in 2022, it sets your weapon perks to require lvl 58 minimum and wont let you get more then 1 rank, which glitches out other mods and some crafting that needs rank like gunslinger rank 2 and 5 etc...  any thing that alters the perk list for combat is incompatible. wish there was another mod that did this that was upto date and not conflicting with the most popular crafting and overhaul mods

Really weird bug - I don't know if it's a conflict w/ my other 250+ mods, & I'm not gonna uninstall them to find out. Worked fine w/ a high-level test save nabbed from Nexus. Tried it in a new game, never got the "your blah blah weapon skill went up" message. Figured it wasn't working, uninstalled, reinstalled.

That was when it gender-reassigned my character. O_O

I have been looking for months for a mod that removes the damage bonus but leaves or adds to the other parts of the weapon perks, I need this because I use a damage and health balancing mod which works great but taking the perks while the have bonus damage throws everything out of whack. Could you please release a version of this mod that does not level up or increase damage in any way but still improves the other aspects of the weapon perks? Thank you in advance for your consideration.

That sounds like something that's easy to make yourself if you download the creation kit and just edit a few values.

Sadly, I am not currently able to make mods right right (F4 is not installed on my machine right now), so sorry, you'll have to find someone else to do it or download the kit. It's fun to learn how to create mods~

Does anyone know how well this will function with Horizon in which weapon perks have been modified? Is it a script that removes the damage and changes description or is it an actual edit to the perk system somehow that might create a conflict?

AFAIK it alters the vanilla perk, put this later in your load order and it will replace horizon's changes. Put it before and the horizon weapon perks will replace this, but NOT the dynamic ones gained from using the weapon.

So if I understand this correctly, this mod makes it more of a system from oblivion? Also where does this generally go load order wise on the xbox one?

Kinda. But for weapons only, and while oblivion gave you perks every 25 skill levels, you will have to buy perks with regular perk points with this mod, I feared the game would become too easy otherwise.

As for the load order, I'm guessing a safe bet is at the bottom of the mods, but you can experiment around as conflicts are inconsistent through load order reports I've received. You can load save and shoot a wall for a while to see if it's working, or check if the perk's descriptions on the perk wall was changed to remove the mention of damage bonus.

Thank you for this mod. Solves part of the major problem I have with this game as a whole. You should make something similar for lockpicking, hacking, and crafting. Like you would need to pick a certain number of novice locks before moving on to harder locks instead of just generally leveling up and being forced to use your perk on it. I think with any game you should progressively level skills depending on how much you use them.

This is quite the interesting mod. I like the idea and even some rather incidental aspects of it, like gaining more experience per bullet by burst firing with auto weapons, which makes a lot of sense IRL. But I personally think the leveling is a bit slow. Considering that in the base game you can get a 20-40% bonus damage rather quickly, this mod makes it slower and thus makes your character weaker. Maybe make it so you level up faster by having higher ranking Rifleman/Commando/Heavy Gunner/etc perks, so acquiring them is more worth it and it helps level up your skill at higher levels. Also IMHO pistols should need less experience to level up, in general they're slower and with smaller clips, and you use them less than any other weapon. It also makes using revolvers even more of a pain (why does this game have a rage boner against them? They're double-action ffs, why do I have to cock the hammer every time?).
    Sorry for the long paragraph.

By the way, is the [10 exp + current level*7] formula used all the way from skill level 1 to 100? If that's the case, it's pretty ridiculous at higher levels. For instance, you'd need 90*7+10=640 shots to go from level 90 to 91. I hope I'm wrong and I misinterpreted something.

Installed this before my new playthrough yesterday morning. Still haven't noticed any level ups or anything. Im looking under perks lists, for this xp table but I do not see it. Does this mod conflict with Pipboy re-design mods or Perk Tree mods in any way? I do have a few of those installed.

It does conflict with most other perk altering mods from the reports I got on consoles, sorry. I don't know for sure since I don't use these mods.

Since the level perks doesn't appear until you gain at least a level, the way you can check if the mod has activated is that when you check your Perk Wall, the mention of damage boost is removed from all the weapon perks.

This a lighter version of Weapon Specialization, which is an alternative mod of this vein. It uses uniques, self-created perks which means it won't conflict, but it is much harder and slower to power up your damage since it levels up individual weapon models.

I do have the bonus damage mentions in perks removed, but I am not getting any notifications of gaining more experience in the chosen weapon I use. I have a level 74 character that started with this mod, and I have not noticed anything from this mod in the playthrough. The images show a sort of pop up letting you know your usage has led to a "level up" in the weapon category but I have not seen that. The only mods I have which get involved with the perks are the SPECIAL tree visual overhaul based off Shad's inspiration, and the Perk Reset aid item. Do you know if those may conflict? This is my kinda mod and it's a shame I cant give any positive commentary T_T Regardless, its a great idea for the game, and I wish it had been a vanilla setup from Beth.

If you do see the damage text gone in the perk wall, then that means that this mod should be active. The mod is completely silent until you gain your first level up, no +1 exp or anything, so it's possible you are just using a weapon that might not be caught in the filters, or you're not attacking enough to result in a level up. Which weapon are you using? Can you try a 10mm pistol or a melee weapon and attack a wall for a minute or so? Do you have grenades equipped? It should have patched in the latest version, but grenades/mines used to cause equipped weapon detection trouble initially.
