I know it's been awhile, but any plans on putting out an update that buffs the bear trap as mentioned before?

I agree that you should have named it lighter bear traps. However you should make the traps do more damage and then it would be the perfect "Improved" Bear Traps mods. The traps would then be a viable option for a sneak toon.

Good luck and I do hope you expand on this mod.

Hey, thanks for the feedback! I am going to add a damage buff, but not sure how much it should be, the base damage is currently 34, so would a buff to 50-60 be enough or should it be higher? The reason it was implemented yet was because I wanted community feedback first. Thanks once again!

It would be cool if it held the enemy for longer also

I would like to see a high damage, maybe 200. These things are made for snagging Yaou Gua (sic) so if a human steps on one they should lose their foot.

I love the idea of the cripple effect too.

Bear Traps are an extremely under utilized mechanic in FO4. They are very heavy, and do not do any real damage so a nice game mechanic goes to waste. I love what you are doing to try to make this a viable playable option. There really are not many Bear Trap mods so I do hope you continue to work on this. It is a nice niche that is unfilled by other modders and you can be the Bear Trap go to mod.

I would love to see you offer 3 or 4 different files for many different damage amounts. Then when you level up and the old traps just are not cutting it any more, come here and get the next file up with a higher damage. 100, 200, 300 and 500 would be outstanding. You could take your Bear Trap mods from start to finish and have them scale with your enemies.

Good luck and I look forward to see you continue with the Bear Trap mods!

I'll start playing around with it a bit and upload my progress! I loved when I first saw that Bear Traps were going to be introduced into Far Harbor but it felt like it was wasted potential, so that is what really sparked the mod idea, thanks for the input!

Rather than making them lighter, it'd make more sense to make them dramatically more powerful and/or have a 100% chance to cripple legs (considering how Bethesda made limb crippling practically a nonexistent mechanic in F4, that's not really a stretch.) 8 lbs is actually far lighter than real bear traps (they typically weigh over 40lbs, being made to break the legs of bears and all.)

I know its not a realistic weight, as my family used to keep one for decoration lol. The mod is really to make it a useful tool, rather than a completely skipped over mechanic. I have thought about trying to make them slow/hold enemies. I will look into it and see what I can do. Thanks for the feedback!

Why is it named "Improved Beartraps", not "Lighter Weight Beartraps"?
Improved would imply increased damage and/or functionality

I named it "Improved Bear Traps" because I wanted to make them a more viable option, with the intent to help players using items that they wouldn't normally use. The biggest factor I saw when I used them was that the weight was way too heavy and that it could be improved. I have considered altering the statistics of the Bear Trap, but was wanting more feedback from the community, It seems that there should be a damage boost and I will work on it right away! Thanks for your input!
