Cracking into Nuclear Physicist was like uncovering a conspiracy.

Except instead of covered up assassinations, it was a bunch of edits made by some guy who had no f***ing clue what he was doing.

Edit: 4 years later and I realize this comes off meaner than I meant. While whoever did it had no clue what they were doing, I don't want to sound like I think they were incompetent. In all likelihood they were probably deep in crunch, some decision maker decided that Nuclear Physicist should have a rank 3 and some random dev was given the job of adding it, instead of whoever originally scripted the perk, as a result they probably did it quick and dirty due to the time constraints of crunch and getting the game out on time and didn't notice their mistake or take the time to see how the first guy scripted it.

This mod is good, but those lead belly perk really messed up Item sorting mod name for food, so i need to manually patch it using xEdit.

No real way to get around that because of how those mods work, its why I personally stopped using item sort mods, they broke way too easily.

Love this mod! The temptation to get the double damage perk was just to great (I’m an impulsive person) which made late game way to easy, especially with the gauss rifle. This mod fixes this and the bonus carry weight perk really helps on survival, good job!

When the question is "More Damage?" a players answer should always be "Yes Please."

Which is why one must modify the game itself in order to offer a more balanced experience.

    Hello Zaayl,

I play on Xbox and am building a modded playthrough. Part of it involves having damage increased so that all weapons are viable on all builds so more of a focus on loadouts instead of damage.

I really like the way you modified the perks, but would you be willing to make a "Hardcore" version or patch for it with just a small number of changes?

All ballistic and energy weapon damage boosts removed or reduced to only 5%. Maybe boost the melee and unarmed ones to 75% or 100% max level (just because those make sense as you get better with a weapon.) The benefits they currently have can still work or maybe think of:
Rifleman - VATS accuracy, maybe a small boost to fire rate to semi-auto rifles? Like you are more comfortable with the bolt actions and recoil of semi-autos?
Gunslinger - VATS accuracy? Reload speed/ADS speed for pistols maybe hip fire accuracy as well
Commando - Hip fire accuracy with auto rifles, and benefits to armor penetration like in 5% intervals? (this is more helpful on auto guns due to how the game handles damage resistance)
Heavy Gunner - Movement speed and hip fire benefits

Lastly all the perks that remove addiction, breath underwater, tripping traps, invisibility, removing all radiation damage and removing the ability to be crippled are all nerfed.
These make you able to completely ignore aspects of the game and are OP.

You could change the radiation damage to be a bonus damage resistance, or maybe aquaboy can give a stealth bonus when in water but you still have to go up for breath?
Sneak can just be stealth related not affecting traps or giving invisibilty, just be levels of improved stealth?
Adamantium Skeleton can give bonus limb health but not make you immune to crippling?

I know that basically becomes an almost new mod, but I like a lot of the other changes you had and wanted to know if you would be willing to make something like this and put it on bethnet for Xbox?

I would do it myself but I can't run Fallout on my pc.

Thanks for the mod either way,

Is it possible to make the armor penetration from the perk "Rifleman" work with energy damage? From how I understand it currently it only penetrates ballistic damage, which just makes energy weapons even less powerful. I hope you consider this change, and farewell.

Oof, missed this by a few months, still, ill answer it for future peoples wondering.

I dont recall there being any instances of the perk singling out energy weapons, which means if energy weapons dont get the boost, it comes from how the game calculates armor penetration (Could be that it calculates it on the enemies armor, not on weapon damage, and only looks at ballistic resistance). Ill double check this next time im in the CK, but I suspect its not something that can be fixed.

This may be a weird question to ask, but any idea why my perks are behaving like this mod is installed even though I don't have it installed? I am so puzzled over this issue.

It says on your download history that you downloaded it. It would be physically impossible for any mod to be applied without installation, unless some other mod contained its files by mistake.

Check your load order for "Perk Rebalance Normal.esp"

Is the ghoulish perk also fixed?? I mean, HP is regenerating when absorbing rads??

Also, sent you a PM. Can't post on bug section, don't know why. Rifleman perk is grayed out and can't add perks in it. Anyone having similar issues??

Rifleman works fine on my end, a perk being grayed out means there is some incompatibility, the only times this has happened before, is when a DLC adds ranks to a perk that has been modified.

As for ghoulish, as far as I'm aware Ghoulish isn't broken. (Its entirely untouched by my mod) But do keep in mind: Ghoulish doesnt cancel out radiations harmful effect, meaning it both hurts and heals you, so when you use rads to heal you wind up meeting somewhere in the middle and have a lower Max HP as a result. Its a tradeoff, you max HP might be reduced to 100, but its better than your current HP being 10.

Rank 4 heals radiation damage over time, however it DOES NOT work while sleeping, waiting, or fast traveling (this is by design, they patched in the fast traveling part later) and it is a incredibly slow rate (1 rad/sec, given rads can build up between 0-1000, it could take a while to heal you)

EDIT: After reviewing the PM you sent me and the included image, I can confirm its conflicting mods, you are running a different mod that affects rifleman. That, or you downloaded a different mod than mine (I dont see my mod in your download history) and need to report it to them, not me.

I think I know what's conflicting. Sorry about that. Not a bug guys. I'm running Better Locational Damage mod and installed the included perk overhaul. Just a quick question, is it safe to disable the ESP related to perks?? I mean, it just changes values. If it's gone, then it will revert back to its vanilla state. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I want to install your mod because it halves the damage done by weapons, and I MOSTLY ONE SHOT enemies even in Hard Difficulty.

      Thanks for replying!

Depends on certain values of the perks you have taken and how they are applied. 90% of them it will be fine, perks like Life Giver have values that become otherwise permanent if you dont remove the perk before uninstalling any mod (specifically the health regen).

@Zaayl, I would like to report that this mod is undownloadable on XB1 through Bethesda's in-game mod system. I have posted on this mod's BethNet page, but have opted to also post here to ensure you are alerted to the issue.

I do not mean to harass you, I simply wish to use this mod in company with your other rebalance mods, as I quite enjoy your work.

    Thank you for your time.

Huh, I dont own a XB1 (or any current gen console) so theres no way for me to test it, and thanks for posting here, BethNet's system for alerting me to comments is quite bad.

Ill try re-uploading it as a "updated version" and see if that works.

Just saw it pop up on the XB1's mod menu! I can verify it is working, as the changes you've listed (such as Lead Belly +50 HP for 3 minutes) have taken effect.

      Thank you very much!

Im glad that worked, because if it was a issue with the mod itself (the PS4 version had the exact same problem) I would have no way to test or troubleshoot it. Must've been a issue with bethesda's servers at the time I was uploading them both originally.

I think it's safe to assume that Bethesda's servers are fairly shoddy. A number of mods have completely disappeared on BethNet with no explanation before.

As for how the mod works on consoles, I have not run into any issues thus far. Everything's looking great!

Looks great, can't wait to try it on a new playthrough!

Found two typos for you though: Rank 5 description of Commando still lists it as bestowing double damage, and Rank 5 description of Gunslinger is long enough to run out of room and cut out the last part (about crippling the limb you hit, I think it was).

Ill try to fix those in the next patch, when I get around to it, been taking a break from fallout (got into a fantasy game kick lately, lots of pillars of eternity) all kinda low-priority since none of it affects gameplay. The character limit on perks is really short, quite annoyingly.
