it is empty and meaningless-make their presence increase happiness in the settlement.... and the settlers will be much less to Express their discontent
I've personally never used this pillory (bc MOST of contraptions DLC is stupid IMO - some stuff COULD be useful but).. Anyway, from what I can tell - the author has made it usable for the Player Character! Self-deprecation is a thing?!
I'm guessing here and could be wrong though, since I've never even discovered the need to build and/or test one (bc its stupid IMO). Now, a guillotine or gallows.. that'd be cool. Forced labour camp with no real consequence amid rebellion - Is NOT a true labour camp.

Pillory works as an item which can get a settler attributed to, just like you can get a settler to use a bed, work crops or tend a shop. If the settlemet is attacked, the "prisoner" will get out of the contraption, help fight and when the fighting's done, get back in the pillory...
Yes because who doesn't want to come home and suffer abuse at the hands of people whom we have given Food, Water, Shelter and protection to. Thank God that does not happen in the Vanilla game....... Oh wait it does.
