Imagine if this synth went rouge, and having seized power, started a war against the former masters, full of hatred for them, for his kind and even for himself
I know he isn't a synth, but it would be a great 'plot twist' after all the anti-synth speeches and ideals the brotherhood has, if maxson himself turned out to be one.
That being said if this was true, and part of the story, maxson would likely throw himself off the prydwen if he found out he was a synth
I would LOVE it if one could confront Maxson & the BOS with this news (and the proof). Then be able to stand back and enjoy all the recriminations.Maxson's such a self-righteous pratt.
Delightful afterthought - not using one of the other factions to blow up the Prydwen, but getting the Brotherhood to it to THEMSELVES. Heheheh.
I also like this idea since the BOS are generally the good guys (albeit still a military oriented faction) but Maxson with his abuse of power and intimidation turned the BOS in the Commonwealth into the antagonists.
I think a good split-off point would be when he orders you to kill Danse. The player could plot with Haylen to stage a Coup-d-etat
The idea of maxson throwing himself off the prydwen seemed far more interesting, also the part where gives the minutemen general the keys to his car a.k.a. prydwen upon death.
Actually the group he grew up in from the capital wasteland are the fringe group, as this Elder Maxon is actually way more in-line with the BOS's original goals and tenants. He's just especially zealous.
I honestly did believe that someone else in the brotherhood was a synth and they decided to frame Danse as one xD Like removed their own component, implanted it in Danse, etc.
The synth component is essentially their "brain", akin to the components seen in Westworld. Meaning they can't remove them without "dying." When your character finds one, it's implied that you broke open their skull, even if you didn't kill them with a headshot.
He Could've been replaced by the institute. If that were true, then he is pretty insane, because he's committing genocide on his own kind, and also claims he hates everything non-human.
Of the known replacements, McDonough or however you spell his name seems to be the only one actually self-aware of that fact, and the Institute was considering recalling him because he was trying to campaign to become one of their coursers because of "years of loyalty".
(Magnolia doesn't count because her songs indicate she's an escapee who chose to keep her memories.)
Terrible mod. Does not do anything. When I shot him, he just got back up because he was still essential. After console commanding his essential away, I killed him, found no synth chip, and instantly was killed by the guard next door after finishing my looting (despite total stealth with a silenced weapon).
Wake me up when there is a mod that lets you actually become elder for killing that (alleged) synth scum.
Maxson is generally essential, the only times in which you can kill him are the institute/railroad/possibly minutemen endings where you have to take down the prydwen and fight maxson
Because in process, he'd end up destroying the brotherhood of steel once the institute revealed the fact he's synth or if that data got retrieved.. just roleplay possibilities
and it could have been the railroad that put Maxson there (albeit much earlier when he would have been a recruit) without knowing the repercussions, maybe

It's like the rumors that Hitler was of Jewish descent.
