Huh, so all robots including codsworth are invisible? Hmm ok two questions, have you loaded this patch after handy hats? And have you tried it with a new game?

i started a new game n loaded a save where i didn't meet any Mr handys, they r all there BUT due to automatron issues after modding codsworth, i cannot equip any hats on him. Either that or its due to this mod that enables power armor mods on robots (http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/17732/?) load order for handy hats is last followed by your patch if not it will CTD. its no biggie since i just wanted to let dogmeat wear them oh for your info, the hats r compatible with the robot dogs companions (http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/11774/?)

edit. oh i came across this mod author who stated what ren did to handy hats mod.

      http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/11976/?

maybe can combined the 2 to make it a better mod???

Thank you for letting me know
I would assume either something changes when the robot is upgraded, or maybe it requires a certain part to be mr.handy. Either way I will look into it when I get a chance .
But I will admit, I do have plans to expand Handy Hats to other companions/creatures Which will include but not limited to: Protectrons, SentryBots, Assaultrons, RoboBrains, Vertibirds(Neutral Vertibirds)*Cause Why the heck not *, eyebots, BloatFlies, BloodBugs, RadScorpians, and any other NPC I can think of....

And what renn changed is exactly what I added back with this patch in the first place
But I may see if he will add my patch into an optional file, or to send people here if needed

And the load order has to be, renn's Handy Hats, then my patch.

And what do you mean by it will CTD? Like when does it happen?

Don't worry, I have read all your comments and I am here to help. From what I understand, some robots aren't becoming visible after the patch has been installed. From how it's be described, I can assume that handy hats was installed and tested in game before the patch was installed. Which reminds me of the aftermath of a manual fix found here: https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/3629455-invisible-robots-bug/page-4 by amoveve. So I would assume the same "steps" to do after the manual fix would apply to my patch. Which can be summarized as any generic mr.handys will be fixed by sleeping away from them for atleast 7 in game days to make them respawn and fix. But ones with unique names, such as Codsworth or Percy would remain bugged if they were bugged prior to the patch. So for the uniquely named ones I would suggest either going to a previous save from before handy hats, or start a new game.

Makes sense, the instructors at Nahant had not yet been visited by me in this play through and were visited after installing your patch so your patch likely fixed them and I didn't realize. The ones I re-visited at Watts probably hadn't been left alone for 7 in game days. As for poor invisible Percy, he shall remain invisible on this particular save file because I'd rather interact with a fully functional if invisible vendor than repeat a human week's worth of gaming. Thanks for all your work! If I happen to run across any new invisible mr. handy's that I hadn't seen already in this play through I'll let you know. I'll also wait 7 in game days and see if the ones at Watts respawn visible.

      Glad to hear
Also, if you are on pc could you please see if a theory of mine is right, by selecting Percy and using recycleactor, since if I feel like that could force them to respawn, but never tested it. Thank you.

Oh I came here looking for a solution to the vanilla problem of when you convert Codsworth or Curie to their Automatron modifiable race equivalent; they could not have hats placed on them anymore.

THANK YOU! I was about to try restarting a new game again, since I couldn't get Professor Goodfeels and Whitechapel Charlie to reappear.

I did get Percy to reappear by reloading an old enough save, but Curie, Professor Goodfeels, and Whitechapel Charlie all stayed invisible, even with the patch.

Once the patch was applied, I was then able to fix the invisible Curie issue with console commands:

    prid 102249
    recycleactor

Similar commands worked for Professor Goodfeels and Whitechapel Charlie:

    prid d5221
    recycleactor

    prid 22688
    recycleactor

This was a perfect fix for a very frustrating issue that seemed to not be a problem for anyone else, until I learned that it was likely due to the Handy Hats mod (of all things, lol). All Mr. Handys that I have encountered since I added this patch were completely visible! For Curie I had to select the actor like suggested below (prid 00102249 | recycleactor) which surprisingly enough worked. Thanks, from two years after this was released :P

      No problem :)
Also not gonna lie, I have learned awhile back how renn did it before to add armors to non humans. So I may rebuild handy hats myself to cover more than just the original sets. One, to utilize all base game hats/headgear/clothing/etc. And two, be able to equip to ALL npc races including Radstag, Protectron, eyebot, sentrybot, assaultron, supermutant(m150 gave a good start and he has given permission for other modders to use his assets :P), molerat, radroach, bloodbug, bloatfly, radscorpion, etc. Of course after effecting the base NPCs I would also try to patch DLC characters, and patches for DLC changed npcs like automatron, and possibly contraptions machinery to assembly the hats :3

Recently redownloaded F4 and started a new save but too scared to use handy hats (as for months I'd go back to game, dick about, get attacked by an invisibot, get mad, search the web to get sad and lazy at the only two hour solution) but I finished Nuka-World a few months ago and want it again since Dogmeat looks so damn dashing in a bowler hat and Vegeta scouter.. So my question may be level 1 but is the general consensus that this works? Say all my bots are visible as I only have about 5 essential mods (which is currently the case) and install these at the same time in the correct order then load up the game, am I likely to have issues or is this the perfect time to just set and forget? I just cant watch my companions and an entire settlement punch the s#*! out of a gust of air while simultaneously missing out on an entire new enemy type in premium dlc. Weird enough the only robot I love, Codsworth, never went ethereal on me despite the fact that I never modded him because I love him the way Jesus made him so life wasn't terrible, but every Handy everywhere was an annoying ghost and broke multiple quests that I had to headbutt my way through.

From my tests, as long as the robots are currently visible before downloading handy hats with my patch, they should properly stay visible.
And if for some reason any robot becomes invisible there are some ways to fix it after my patch is installed

Though I will warn you, hats stop working for Codsworth after he is edited in the robot workbench even the normal bowler hat. But this I can fix with time, have a whole new mod planned for that and... Much more

Hey good news! Percy is visible for me again! Apparently I just needed to stay away from him for awhile.

Edited to add: Doh! I just saw your comment asking me to recycleactor, I totally could have done that, but I got distracted by other stuff in game and forgot to check back here.

From what I found named actors, like curie are a bit trickier to fix. Since simply waiting only works for the non named actors. but the recycleactor command should work. If not you may either have to load a save from before you used handy hats at all, or start a new game

Hmm, that is strange. but I do think curie's id, if I'm not mistaken is 00102249, but if that isn't it, it should be found somewhere else. Like online, or by using a temporary unmodded save teleport to vault 81, find curie, then clicking her

With Handy Hats mostly only generic Mr. Handy models were invisible, I could still see Mr. Gutsys, the robots at Greygarden and Codsworth. The vendor Percy in Diamond City however is invisible. After installing your mod, placed after Handy Hats in my load order, Percy is still invisible. I haven't yet tested other previously invisible Mr. Handy's (such as the ones at Watts). I have also not tried it with a new game as I don't really want to start a new one just now. What further information do you need for testing? Feel free to message me.

The Mr. Handy's at Watt's are invisible. The geological instructors at Nahant's Oceanological Institute are visible.
