I get where you're coming from with this mod. And you're right, short barrels are heavily handicapped. Personally, I DO build them, but only because my current character is so powerful that I can equip him purely on aesthetics.

Thing is, I'm not sure focusing on the weight is a big enough thing. Maybe it is for those playing survival mode. In other modes, however, I never really have an issue with carrying too much.

Maybe an additional area to look at is range/accuracy. In the vanilla game, there is a huge drop off in range. Things like sawn-off shotguns are basically melee weapons - you're virtually in touching distance before they do significant damage. Maybe you could buff the range, say 50%, so they have far better range than the vanilla versions but are still a long way off from the long-barrel equivalents (and remain less accurate).

That is a valid point. Weight is definitely not the only factor in why people choose to not use short or lightweight weapon mods, however, a big pet peve of mine since the game first came out was how a long light barrel weighs less than no barrel at all, so thats sorta how I got the idea for this mod.
Ill write down your idea and look into a mod like that.

(Sorry for spelling mistakes Im writing this on my phone)

gun weight is *supposed* to affect the time before the first shot fires in vats, and the time your scope stabilises too.
might also affect weapon swap times.

whether they really do affect these in any significant way is not something i've tested though.

Gun weight affects VATS cost. That's it.
