The base game cells are all modded. I'm working on the DLCs yet.
There are 3 issues I expect to be reported, none of them will break your game or your save.
1. Performance - Shadow caster and Godray caster lights may affect your performance, so be descriptive when reporting this, if possible with a screenshot of the angle you get the hit, because I need to know which light may be causing the problem. Also, try changing the shadow resolution to "iShadowMapResolution=2048" or to "3072" on your Fallout4Prefs.ini under [Display] too, it will increase the performance for Ultra users.
Don't use mods that allows you to edit interiors, mods that let you scrap everything.
Also DO NOT DISABLE THE PRECOMB/PREVIS SYSTEM!
2. Invisible walls, this is a mod conflict, some other mod is disabling or editing the Precomb/Previs system of that cell, you gotta hand pick your environmental mods, because if you move a single candle belonging to a precombined mesh, it will disable it.
List any lighting and interior mods when reporting a performance issue.
3. Weirdly placed FX - this one is simple, I usually hide all the FX layer in Creation Kit to work on the lights, so it's possible I forgot to work on them in some cells.
2024 I'm still in the wasteland and using this great lighting mod! This mod is absolutely perfect and I hope the author will continue to update the DLC's lighting to keep the legend going Thanks to the great author!
Is it possible in any way to get a no-dlc option?? What I've understood from reviews, the dlc are not worth the price and paying for all of them would just be ridonculous, as you'd get a completely new game for the same money.. Anyway, thanks in advance and if it's not possible then I guess it wont be.
Edit: huh.. apparently it's working even without the dlc O.o soo.. nevermind the original request! Mod looks great! :))
whats the performance like because i downloaded this mod and i went from 120-150 fps for interiors to 40-50 with this mod active. And I have a 3080 with a 5950x
It's great to hear this mod will be finished. What with the new update breaking so many things, I think I'll hold off on my next run until ELFX is done and F4SE and the various F4SE mods are updated. I simply can't play this game with vanilla lighting after checking out ELFX, just like Skyrim.
The interior shadows were entirely too dark after I installed this so I tried to uninstall it for a new mod and now my game crashes when I try to load that save. Good thing I didn't get too far in the game when I tried this but I'd either upload some uninstallation instructions or let people know that once this mod is installed on a save, it cannot be removed. Please correct me if I'm wrong or let me know if there's a way to lighten the shadows a bit. I've been fighting with this mod for days and it's beautiful but I'm probably gonna remake my character just to be done with it.
Is this mod working for anyone with the next-gen update? It isn't working correctly for me, it's actually increasing the ambient light and killing shadows. I've played with this mod in Skyrim and years ago with Fallout 4 and love it but something seems to be wrong now after the update or maybe I'm doing something wrong. The only other mods I have are the achievements enabler and an ultrawide UI mod.
Actually it may be working, I'll try another location.
Greetings, can i somehow change the lighting in modded location by myself using f4edit or its hard/impossible? Im talking about Pineneedle rest, installed it in middle of my playthrough, and after entering the bunker i sadly remembered how poor the vanilla lighting is, lol. Im just no modder and cant figure iit out by myself
I am having the same issue as documented by others, that in the intro, the Vault 111 elevator disappears and the character and NPCs drop to bottom of the shaft and die. Not sure, if I got further in if more issues would present or not.
just started a new fallout game today with tons of mods, i had the same problem. i solved it this way: the moment you stuck, open console and type tcl, it deacitivate collision. close console, go down to the floor to the officers, open console and type tcl again, it activates collision. game should move on now, your wife spawns a few seconds later behind you.
my standard key for the console was "Ö" (germany ;), qwertz layout), maybe yours is ~ or ^.
Beautiful results, but probably not for me. I took some comparison screenshots for myself and I like how light accurately comes from the light sources, but I find the amount of light provided to be highly inaccurate. In a tiny room (think 10ft x 10ft) if there is a hanging light on one side, the other side is pitch black. In real life, the entire room would be illuminated. So I guess the intention is not to be realistic, but rather to create a certain type of atmosphere. One thing about this mod is you are absolutely required to use your Pip-Boy light far more than you would without it. Plus, I just started using an ENB which makes interiors much darker as well. I have a quest that has me clearing enemies through several floors of a building and I find myself disabling this mod and my ENB so I can see. Personal gripes aside, being forced to use the Pip-Boy light means I can't effectively sneak, so there's that.
Anyway, it's a cool mod. Great and very well done, really. It may not be to my taste, but I can understand why people love it. Maybe I'll come back to it sometime. I think I need to use the Pip-Boy flashlight mod to really appreciate this one. I tried it once but didn't like the brightness and wasn't interested in taking the 20 seconds required to edit ini files to get that stuff set how I'd like it. Also, trying to get used to this ENB is already a bit of a headache so I guess I need to figure this out before I start stacking lighting mods on top of it.
Maybe you could try this patch: ELFX - eXoPatch. It makes the darker parts of ELFX slightly less dark. It sounds like it might be what you're looking for?
Follow-up: The patch didn't do anything to increase brightness in the places where I tested it. Maybe not all interiors have been adjusted yet. Regardless, I doubt the increase in brightness will be enough to compensate for the dimness of the ENB. Sadly, it seems I won't be able to enjoy ELFX after all.

Sorry to hear that. If you look at the patch in FO4Edit, you should be able to see what cells it makes changes to. As you say, it might just be that all interiors haven't been adjusted.
I suppose that's the compromise. I have to choose between the ENB or ELFX, or keep my flashlight on permanently, in which case ELFX becomes practically pointless. Thanks for the suggestion anyway. I'm sure it'll help people who aren't already using such a dim ENB.
There's a category in the ENB settings called Volumetric lights (or something such). Change the settings for the "interior day" and "interior night" and you'll notice a blinding effect on spotlights such as the one point at you when leaving Vault 111. The horisontal flare is some sort of lens flare though.
Hi, thanks for the reply! This is right from the start, in Sanctuary. I can't imagine you missed them there. I can only assume it's on my end but can't understand why it would be.
This mod destroys my FPS in The Institute, and as far as I can tell that's the only place. I have a 3070 TI, only ~50-55% utilization on either my GPU or CPU at like 5 FPS.
I Have a 7800XT and have the same issue, verry low utilization (between 50-65%).. im sorry, but thats just unplaybe. Brand new GPU playing a decade old game at 70 fps with drops to 50fps or peaks to 110 then drops again to 50 fps is just not worth it..
Same. 5700x3d and 6750XT and some interiors fps just down to 70-80, disabled the mod to see and got fps capped 120 all the time (yes, i cap fps at 120 )

Turn up ambient interior light in the Enb, or turn up interior lights in NacX, 2 simple options that works :)

I started using the flashlight mod again, too. FO4Edit resolved my issue with that.

Now what I'm hoping someone can tell me is how to get the light sources to be be blinding, with ENB, as they are when using ELFX and no ENB.
I try to use FO4Edit, but dont know which file I should edit
