    Hi ThreeSocks3,

    I know I'm late to the party... I've been using this mod since 2020. But just a tiny suggestion to your great mod! What if the gates only closed under certain conditions?

    - like after dark the gates would close and reopen during the day, of course, you can still open the gate at any time.
    - Or if there was an attack outside of the city gates, the main gate could close with an alarm sound and deploy turrets to dispose of the threat.
    - Or a proximity automatic open and close. 

    I know this was to be just a simple mod, but I could be maybe more. just food for thought going into 2024 and if you are still modding.

      I like your ideas! I'm not actively modding at the moment but when I port the mod to the next gen update, I will look into adding them as a separate version perhaps.

    This is a cool mod, but it could use some TLC:

    • The sound effects are really, really loud. So much so that I need to either run away from the gate as it opens, or take off my headphones.
    • Having to interact with the gate in order to get it to open isn't very immersive. The gate isn't supposed to be controlled by the player, it's supposed to be controlled by Danny. Making the gate open when the player gets within a certain distance of the gate would make much more sense.

      The first point is a you problem, lower the volume, it's how the game was shipped with.
      The second point is understandable but would require scripting work most likely, which a small script can probably achieve but also why?

      Leaving from DC it makes sense for you to interact with it as in Danny can see you, coming to DC from the outside can just be chalked up to someone leaving and needing it open, which can happen with guards, or Danny having a camera outside or something.
      You could always just, you know, interact with the comm and then open it?

      Sorry if I come off as rude btw, it's just unlikely it will ever be updated tho.

      Actually the camera idea is good, and a monitor in danny's area to see..
      Even in fo4 one could be "gerry rigged" xD   !!

    Still works and still saves me from relentless mobs that I made way too lethal x) Great quality of life mod.

    Saved me from Deathclaws, Sentrys, Super Mutant assaults and Yau Guai attacks MULTIPLE TIMES.

    10/10, would open again.

    Note to others: If you are a dit like I was and miss the part where you can't use until after the gate has been opened, (and then spending an hour trying to find the mod that makes piper not be there and banging on the gate going let me in!!!!!) you can select the door in console and disable it.... then it'll be replaced with the mod's door afterwards. 

    Piper still takes a moment to show up - so it's fun watching the mayor rant at air but. yeha.

    It could use a script to lower the gate once it turns night time, and maybe a buzzer on both the inside and outside to lower / open the gate, cause once you activate and open it it tends to stay up.

    This mod made more of a difference than I thought for immersion.
    Thank you so much for it.

    Also funny thing, dunno if anyone else noticed this.
    When you talk to Piper the first time, the part of the dialogue where she says: "Better head inside quick before old Danny catches onto the bluff" she does a little sigh of relief and the last 'pft' sound seems to be tied to the gate opening.
    It might just be in my game I don't know, but every time I open it, at about half way of opening I hear the pfff sound and it makes me laugh.
