Bit of a long shot, but I want to make it so the stick mag is the 'default' magazine for the SMG. Anyone know what I'll need to do in FO4Edit to make that happen?
In FO4Edit, expand Fallout4.esm > Weeapon. Right click the SubmachineGun entry and click "Copy as override into...". Check the box nect to "TommyStickMag.esp".
You should now have a new "Weapon" subsection under TommyStickMag.esp that contains a green text entry for the SubmachineGun. Expand TommyStickMag.esp > Object Modification. Left click the entry "mod_TommyMag_Mag_Standard". With that selected, look at the top of the right window and find the FormID. It should be this: "mod_TommyMag_Mag_Standard "Standard Stick Magazine" [OMOD:0D000F9E]", but make sure you pull the one from your .esp to ensure it works smoothly.
Finally, expand the TommyStickMag.esp > Weapon and left click the SubmachineGun entry. In the right window scroll about 1/3 of the way down to the entry Object Template > Default. Look for the following entry "mod_SubmachineGun_Mag_Medium "Medium Magazine" [OMOD:0015B047]", and replace it with the one you copied before. Do this by right clicking on the mod text and hit edit. Make sure you are right clicking on the entry under the TommyStickMag.esp column and not the column next to it which is vanilla that you can't edit anyway.
What is WITH all these comments about how crap the drum magazine is? It's the stereotypical thing! I literally never heard of a Tommy Gun without a drum mag until, like, 2 years ago. The drum magazine is the defining feature of the Thompson, even if it's historically unpopular. It's a fictional universe where both aliens AND magic are confirmed fact, and yet you guys are concerned about the historical accuracy of an unnamed mix-and-match Thompson Submachine gun. I use this mod, I like the extra options, but I wouldn't give up the large drum mag for anything; both function-wise, needing to reload less, and look wise, I feel like Al Capone when I use it.
It was while drum magazines are seen as the most stereotypical thing (mostly on those owned by civilians), the stick mag was actually the more common variant, especially for the Thompson variant that was used by the army.
Hell, during WW2, the british actually complained about the drum magazines and send all of them back in exchange for 20-rounds stick magazines (at the time the 30-rounds one did not exist)
Praise be to all!!! As a WWII Historian I've been in love with the Thompson since I first saw it it. It looks great shoots great and is reliable. And then Bethesda added it to Fallout 4 YAY, And then they put the drum mag on it BLEH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Thank you for fixing that wrong choice :) Definitely Endorsed :)
I highly doubt the in-game thompson is the original M1921. The charging handle is on the side like the A1 rather than on the top like the original, and the rear sight is also closer to the cruder A1 than the 1921. Also, it makes more sense from a lore perspective that the majority of tommy guns found in the wasteland were the mass produced, cheaper and simpler versions made for the war effort rather than the pricey, more complex 1921s.
The magazine is not appearing I can still use the gun normally but the magazine just doesn’t show up? I did a manual install. Anyone having the same problem or a way to fix??
A really nice mod for those who appreciate historical accuracy. The jungle mag version with the two mags taped together is a really nice touch.
I'm noticing that in the VR version of the game, this mod causes the stick mag to appear way to far forward, and the drum mag to appear behind the grip. It's a minor grip that only affects aesthetics and not functionality. Even uninstalling and re-installing this mod won't fix the magazine position glitch issue. It's a great mod overall though.
The description says the smaller stick holds 30 rounds, mine only holds 25. Is there an error in the description, or am I the only one that has a 25 capacity?
Unrelated question, but what is the name of the armored hazmat suit that you are wearing in the screenshots? I've looked everywhere but all I've found was a link that goes nowhere.

Exit FO4Edit and allow it to save the changes.
IRL, the shorter stick mag had only 20 rounds, while the larger mag had 30 rounds.
The 40 round mag did exist, but it was made by welding 2 20 rounds magazines face-to-face, instead of being a standalone item

Are you perhaps talking about another stick mod by asXas?
