great mod makes getting resources much easier without cheating however i found that the shipments dont always work in fact they dont seem to give resources alot of the time they simply go into the workshop as shipments instead of resources anybody else have this issue?
I checked and I wasn't having this issue. Now I am, but not always.
Maybe it's just some shipments? I'm not sure. I'd fix it if I knew why they weren't being converted.
If you are in a settlement just drop it and scrap it. That works.
The shipments in game are sort of weird. They use a script to handle the switch from and item to the components given. I'm not sure why they even did it this way, when you could just have a thing called shipment that is able to be scrapped.
Maybe I'll take a look at making adjusting the mod to get rid of the script altogether. Shipments would not convert when you drop them in the workshop, but they would be usable item in crafting recipes.
I realize this post is old but I thought I might shed some light on the subject for reference.
A while back Bethesda patched the script that did the auto conversion when you deposit shipments into the workshop storage. There was an exploit that's well known, that if you're fast enough you can deposit the shipment and withdraw it faster than the script fires to convert it. From the looks of the script file included in the CK they just commented out the conversion so it happens when you break things down. This has the side effect of potentially breaking down other junk instead of the shipment, but if it's something the player is concerned about then dropping it and doing a manual scrap in workshop mode works.
hey, looks good. seems like a solid mod. that being said, i dont collect folders, and they cant be crafted... seeing as paper money turns to fabric when scrapped, do you think you could make man optional ESP where the folder is replaced by 2 or 3 fabric? and maybe throw in some variations on the price? because shipments were never worth their raw materials. (as in if you sold a vendor the same amount of raw materials, you didnt get 1/3 of the money you payed for the shipment)
Why don't you pick up folders? They are 1 cap each and weigh nothing.
I went with the folder because it is basically an unused item. Pick them up they are free money anyway, and who doesn't like free money.
And yes shipments are horribly overpriced, ridiculous even. If I recall correctly, shipments are 5 times the base value of the components. But shipments are one of the money sinks in the game, and if I made them cheaper to craft, it would remove that aspect form the game. In other words too cheaty, because you could just craft shipments and sell them. So there needed to be a drawback. My thinking here is that sometimes you are really in a bind for some stuff, you can aquire that stuff at significant cost.
For my mod I'd like to keep it as is for now, if you'd like to change it for your own game go for it. It's pretty easy to mod a mod for your own use.
I'll probably try to keep a look out for some mods or resources that add some alternate crafting stations to the game, and maybe if I find one that I'd like I'd put a version out that use's that. I dislike how we've turned the chem station into a universal do anything station, but it's fairly easy to pull off. The previews of the add-ons look cool, and I imagine we'll see a new crafting station for that robot stuff, and the GECK should be out by then too. Hopefully all our awesome modders out there will get a second wind when the GECK is released and we'll see some new resources to play with, and better fixes for the game.
As for the selling item's remotely, I'm sure that's possible, but it would take some fancy scripting work to do. I've done some basic scripting stuff for the elders scrolls and fallout games, but mostly just to fix other mods. And I'd wait for the GECK, and then I'd hope some one was eager enough to do it instead of me.
Had a crack at doing the mailbox thing and got it working.... sort of. You can craft the mailbox and everthing but when trying to remove the animation for crafting it renders the desk unusable :/
So it either doesn't let you caft anything with a 'Not usable at this time' message or a dumb animation that looks silly :'(
Maybe try to get it working with another object first. Something that has an idle animation already. If I recall correctly the crafting station's are furniture, so maybe try with another piece of furniture. Try to get that to work. But I suspect that you'd have edit a copy of the mailbox nif, to remove the opening animation, and replace it with an idle animation the player can use. Don't know exactly if that's what it would take to get it to work, but just making some suggestions.
I love the idea of the mod, do you think you could also add a way to sell items remotely, like a public market booth that truns your items into caps after X amount of time, or instantly? Or some form of requisition orders the player can fulfill for caps.
