I was wondering if the mod creator was still around. This is a great idea for making the settlers gather their own ammo in the workshop.

Seems that it isn't hardcoded, i found specific references in the workshopparent script to the scavenging leveled lists.
So the script needs to be altered to include a new main leveled list specifically for a standalone ammo bench.

but it is possible to add any kind of auto-resource dropping station that you want.
just need to edit the workshopscripts for that.

it's been a while since i edited Skyrim scripts, so i need to warm up a bit, but i suspect that next week i can have a script that works.

So I looked at your file in FO4Edit and I don't see anything pointing the scavenging station (or in your case, your Ammo Station) to the leveled item list.

I might be wrong, but I'm guessing that's part of the "workshopobjectscript"

If there was some reference other than scripting it would be pretty easy to make it a standalone created object.

One thing you could do instead of replacement is make a plugin that only has your modified leveled item lists, but added to the normal scavenging station leveled item list instead of replacing it, so the entry WorkshopProduceScavenge [LVLI:00026839] would have both your list and the original list together.

Then you'd have a scavenging station that also produces ammo.

You shouldn't need any of the other replacement entries to do that, but the downside is you don't get to give the station a custom name

I would think about doing what you recommended, but it has already been done (found this mod AFTER posting mine and trying to find answers): http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/9813/?

My mod is more meant if you want purely ammo being produced. But like you said, I can't find anything that connects the leveled lists with the station.

I'm not sure what you mean by "workshopobjectscript". Could you give me a few more details of what you mean?

In the Furniture entry WorkshopAmmunitionStation "Ammunition Station" [FURN:0008674C], just below the Editor ID, in VMAD, it lists a script, and the script name is workshopobjectscript.

Like I said, I might be wrong, but I suspect that part of what the script does is link the object to the leveled item list since I don't see any obvious way they're linked.

In my mod Standalone Nuka-Cola Manufacturing Workstation, http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/10129/

The script listed for my furniture entry is WorkbenchScript, which I'm assuming tells it how to be a workbench

Fortunately there was an obvious way to link the objects I wanted to craft to the crafting station, but in your case it's making the stuff sort of automatically, and there's no obvious way to link the item list to it.

Okay, thanks. It made me realize i needed to download the newest version of FO4Edit. Now I can see a few more things that were previously unknown.

So it lead me to the Workshop Parent Quest which was pretty long, but I quickly scrolled through it quickly and I think I saw mention of a few of the objects I needed to link. I'm pretty sure you are in the right area with that script thing.

My guess (and I'm very not experienced at all lol) is that because it is constantly having to be "refreshed", like how many people are in your town or how much food they have collected, they had to make it that way. So for right now, it is probably as far as it can go. I may try to mess around and see if I can add the ammo station separate, but I am very doubtful I will be able to.

I'd say you could make it an ammo crafting station, but that's already been done.

You might look at Northland Diggers http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/9710

He created his settler workstations as Flora instead of Furniture, so you can harvest whatever they produce every day. I didn't see one for ammo, so maybe you can download his plugin, take a look at how he did it, and adapt it for ammo.

That would work yeah, harvest, but that's kinda bothersome, although the crops that are harvested are also sporadically dumped into the workbench, so in the end stuff would end up in the workbench, only at a much slower pace.

Thanks for seeing that. I could try to use his method to add in an ammo station, but it looks like he is already testing an ammo one for balance. So i am not going to bother making one since he is. I will leave mine up as I feel like it will be better for getting ammo (more consistent and with more variation in ammo) than the other method, but mine will just have to continue to replace the scavenging station. I am gonna put a link for the other mod in the description.

It doesn't work, i placed like 10 ammobenches and assigned settlers to it, after 5 in game days there is not a single round of ammo in my workshop. All my workshops are connected with supply lines, so i should see some ammo popping up, but it doesn't.

      1) Which version of my mod are you using?

      2) Are you using any other mods that mess with the scavenging station?

      3) If you have worked with fo4edit, could you look for any conflicts in my mod. That will help a lot with figuring out the issue.

I just tried it with three people and after one day, I had well over a hundred rounds of different types of ammo (I am using the easy version of the mod)

      i'm using the regular version.

no i have no other mods that conflict with the scavenging station.

there are no conflicts other then overrides to vanilla forms in FO4edit.

as far as i can tell it should work, but it doesn't, i'm going to see if i can make it a separate unique bench.
i have a lot of experience with modding Fallout, so i should be able to figure out why it doesn't work and make a new bench instead of replacing the scavbench.

I'll see if i can edit that workshop object script

Thanks, I am not super experienced. I can make a new workbench for it, but I just don't know how the connection between the new workbench and the new leveled lists/actor value would work. And how to separate the two from both making ammo. I will upload another version of my most current version of how far I have gotten with it (the overrides are just to what the scavenging station and compare with the new ammo station in this esp file)

Just checked the script, but there is no specific reference to the scavbench in the script, so the script doesn't need to be edited. I just made the formids unique and added a new property to the Workshop parent quest for the ammo furniture, that should do the trick. will find out tomorrow if it works, i need to take a nap now.

I'll take a look at that esp you uploaded too.

Looks like the game is hardcoded to use only the currently available leveled list when it comes to the woskshopproducescavenge leveled list.

Not possible so far as i can tell to add a new one there, cause it simply isn't used. Even when you add a entry in the workshop parent quest linking to that new list.

probably have to wait a month for the creation kit to be able to do that, and even then, if it's hardcoded, you'd still have to find a workaround to make it work. Cause the workshopobject script doesn't use specific references.

I'll have a look at some other mods to see if anyone used a smart trick.

    Request... Settler Ammo Scavenger Station.

A scavenger station that adds a small amount of ammo to the settlers inventory daily, so you don't have to restock them.

Request 2... Gun and Ammo and armour drop box for settlers.

Got some big guns, good armour and tons of ammo for your settlers, and don't want to spend your time searching or roll calling and adding to each one individually. Then drop them in a box and let them get it themselves...

I don't know if its possible, with or without the GECK, but it would be a time saver. Especially with my followers, as they burn through ammo like there's no tomorrow...

You could have it as a ammo pool for villagers and followers, as I've seen them pick up ammo and weapons off corpses without being prompted.

I remember killing a really tough supermutant, who was attacking me with a mini gun. Turning to kill the other 8 supermutants, then hearing a loud gun noise, looking around to see Piper brandishing a mini gun, and gunning down supermutants with it.

I didn't give Piper a mini gun, so she'd taken it off the supermutant I'd just killed, along with a ton of ammo for it. That I'd discovered in her inventory as well...

Settlers at present, take food and ammo from your settlement store stockpiles. Loot corpses for Guns and Ammo. I wonder if it could be tweaked for ammo, weapons and armour from a box, maybe if it could be designated the same as a corpse.

Just some possible future ideas... If this is too much for you, not possible at present, or you're just not interested in it. Then just ignore this post...

Wonderful idea. I dread supplying hundreds of settlers myself when I'm already acting as their police force/mayor/architect. If they were a little more self-reliant I'd be more inclined to arm them.

I don't think it is possible to do that right now. If I could figure out the problem I am having to make my mod standalone, then it may be possible to do what you are talking about. But it is beyond me at this point I think or it may not be possible until the new creation kit comes out.

To help you with your problem, you may want to get the Better Settlers mod. Although this doesn't change anything with ammo, you get better settlers. I looked at the comments and the author posted that If a settler spawns with a certain type of ammo with a gun, then you can give them a better gun that uses the same ammo but never runs out of ammo, but DONT TOUCH THE AMMO. Don't know if it is true, I haven't tested it.

And the drop box method would be good, but its just not that reliable. During my play through, it seemed to be really random if they did this.

I've been doing some research, and apparently. Settlers get infinite ammo in the Vanilla game, if given 1 ammo of any kind ( except Fatman ammo ).

My follower doesn't follow that rule though, and Piper burns through my ammo like there's no tomorrow...

They'll also pick up ammo and use guns off corpses, as well as changing weapons automatically...

That would mean, that miniguns and 1 ammo all round in settlements would be a force to be reckoned with...

I'd still like a more immersive approach to settlers and ammo, though...

-- I use the Better Settlers mod, which is great. But I need to do some more testing, with the ammo...

This looks great, just what I needed. I pretty much use one weapon, so I'm always running low on ammo. Will test this tonight, and will add it to me list for my next playthrough.

    Thank you.
