Fallout 4

Note: This Miniguide is meant for people wanting to get a quick start on how to make your own conversions for BodySlide. If you are "hust" a user of my mod you don't have to bother with this at all. This also isn't a very extensive Tutorial, it just covers the most basic steps. It's my firm believe that experimenting is the best way to learn this tool, and even if I wanted I couldn't cover all the possible edge cases. Even if you follow this Miniguide don't expect to make any high quality conversions right from the beginning. I also don't think of my as a professional in any way.
Anyway, let's get started.

1. Load up BodySlide and go to Outfit Studio.
2. Select "File -> New Project"
3. In the new window select "Use a Template" and then select "Convert Vanilla to CBBE" followed by "Next"
4. In the next Window select the Vanilla .nif file by clicking the top most "Browse" button followed by "Finish"
5. You should see your selected outfit as a preview.
6. Hide the green highlighted reference body (reference shape) by clicking on the eye icon.
7. If the outfit still shows skin, search in the shape list for the acording shape. Usually it's called something like "BaseFemale<xxx>" Remove this shape by rightclicking the shape and selecting delete. Remember if you deleted a base shape, as this will be important when you save your mesh.
6. Select "Sliders -> Conform all"
7. In the Sliders list drag the Vanilla to CBBE slider all the way to the right so its Value shows 100
8. Select "Sliders -> Set Base Shape"
9. Select "File -> Load Reference"
10. In the new window select "CBBE" under "Use a template"
11. Select "Sliders -> conform all" (yes, again)
12. Using the mesh manipulation tools fix any clipping errors you can find. This can sometimes be very easy, sometimes it's a very tedious process. When you are satisfied with your result continue with the next step.
13. Select the sliders in the slider list with the pencil icon in front of them one by one. They change to their max value. Fix any clipping issues you find. Over time you will develop a feeling for wich sliders are more likely to cause issues, and wich hardly ever do so. Another rather tedious step.
14. In some cases it might be helpful to select some/all shapes in the shape list and select "Copy Bone Weights" I have yet to fully understand that myself, but in some cases it can help, in others it makes things worse.
15. Select "File -> Save Project as" Select a Name at the top and check the mesh path and mesh filename fields if they are correct.
If you make a Fallout 4 mesh check that "Single weight output" is selected.
Enter names for "Slider Set File", "Shape Data Folder" and "Shape Data File"
You can use the same "Slider Set File" for multiple outfits.
You can also use the same "Shape Data Folder", as long as "Shape Data File is unique for each project.
If you removed a Base shape in step 7 make sure "Copy reference shape into output" is selected. If you didn't remove a Base shape in step 7 make sure it is unchecked.
16. select Save
17. Test your outfit in BodySlide. You might have to refresh your outfit list for it to appear.
18. Go back to Outfit Studio and fix any issues you found in BodySlide
19. Build your outfit in BodySlide and test it ingame. Note that some issues only arise with some animations or only when holding certain weapons etc.
20. fix any remaining issues found ingame.
21. Repeat steps 17-20 for different presets etc. until you are satisfied.
22. To release your conversions pack up your folder in "Data/Tools/BodySlide/ShapeData" and your Slider Set file in "Data/Tools/BodySlide/SliderSets"
23. Always keep the fun doing this. If you get to frustrated with it, take a step back before burning out. ;)

And now have fun modding and a Happy new year!
