This crashes my game. I followed the instructions and even checked some mod installing guides and when i start fallout it crashes 1 second after it loads the background for the menu.

I have all of the DLC's.

    Any suggestions?

Supposedly this problem is also fixed by the latest unofficial DLC patch for point lookout: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3808

I have verified it being listed in the version history although I have not personally tested it. Here is the entry from the version history:
"Point Lookout: Fixed the Ghoul Ecology perk's conditions running in the perk selection area instead of the target which made the perk always be in effect on everything not just ghouls (Altered Perk: DLC04FF06GhoulEcology)."

Just trying to keep mods like this as consolidated as possible... Kudos to Candor for figuring this out.

I was curious about where exactly the "effect condition field" is? I've been trying to understand how your mod works and I can find no reference anywhere except here to the existence of an "effect condition field."

Jump and access Pip-Boy 3000 you see that the perk will disappear.

Understood, he had mention the problem with the damage being applied to each bullet (and resulting in huge damage increases for automatic weapons and the like) on his description page so I assumed he was looking to address that as well with this mod.

It's still nice to have this perk work only on ghouls, as it was intended, but it looks like I may have to learn to mod perks myself to get rid of the huge damage bonuses and make these perks a bit less overpowered.

    Thanks!

Hey, Pyrogoat, I think you're missing the point of this fix. It's not to fix the damage implemented, as it's not incorrect. You're SUPPOSED to jump to 99 (or whatever) when taking the perks. This fix was for WHEN it's implemented. Instead of effecting everything, as this perk did, and wasn't supposed to this fix makes sure it only effects Ghouls.

Ha, so this is the reason for all that boost in damage. I can't say I was extremely bothered by it (Enclave soldiers at Adams Air Force Base are wee bit too tough on very hard difficulty), but I did consider it cheating, so kudos for the fix!

    Pyrogoat:

I try to explain it more: The weapon damage number you see in PipBoy is true, but it only reflects real damage when you are not moving. There is no way to see the damage you would do when running by using PipBoy, because whenever you open PipBoy you are considered "standing still". So the only way to know how much damage you've done to somebody while running is to use the console, click on him and type "getav health". For example, officer Kendall has 26 HP after fighting the radroaches, I shoot him with the BB Gun when I was running back, his HP drop to 25. Then I shoot him again while standing, this time his HP reduced from 25 to 19. That proves the Superior Defender Perk works as intended, even though all the time the bonus damage is shown in PipBoy.

When I didn't have ghoul ecology or superior defender, my xuanlong rifle at my current level of skill was doing around 56 damage.

I checked this just before talking to desmond to get the SD perk. Immediately after talking to him and getting the perk, my damage on xuanlong was 99.

I didn't level up (was already max level), I didn't change gear, the perk was the only thing that changed. I really think it's applying the 5 damage to each shot with automatic weapons just like ecology was. The exact same change in damage with the same gun occured when I read the journal and got ghoul ecology, it was 99 after getting the perk with no other changes.

When I remove SD with the console, the 99 dmg goes back down to 56.

Good catch - one of those things that you might not notice in game but could find in the GECK.
