- Brooke and Ben are now integrated into the game as companions - Added some more unique weapons, armor and items - More improvements and additions to Brooke & Ben's dialogue - Various additions/fixes/adjustments to stats, AI packages, scripts etc - Several new random encounters available through dialogue - Stealthboy dialogue option for stealth characters (uses 1 stealthboy, effect is shared) - Added some more recipes, check Brooke's basement for a recipe book - Brooke now has 10 different selectable 'themes' (use one of her mentats to change her weapon & outfit)
The restriction stays, that is by design and in line with the other companions. I'll consider adding a terminal with some backstory. Edit: Added Brooke's Diary with some backstory
Hi Ozzy love your mods, i have converted her for ttw, every things working fine except her voice lines, any idea were i need to start to fix this little problem I'm having ?
It should work as long as the voice files still match the dialogue formids and the filename of the esm is still the same. But knowing how this game works its probably something more complicated.
I added a cheat esp to bypass restrictions. I'm not going to walk back any creative decisions from making this mod unless I need to, it is what it is and I'm happy with it.
I have reinstalled Fallout 3 again with the Rebirth+ collection. So I had the Brooke mod back then as well, and it worked, but now I have installed everything again and got the game working. Brooke and her house are in game and working, but I cannot recruit her as it tells me that I already have a companion following me, which I don't. I tried multiple ways to resolve this with both console commands and going to Point Lookout and Anchorage, but it still gives me the message that I apparently have a companion equipped, which I thought would have been solved by going to the DLC locations. I had Brooke before, and I am playing from an old save file, and it seems to work fine; just this mod seems bugged. Any thoughts on how I can resolve this?
This looks tricky. I see there's a few companion mods in the rebirth mod so maybe check if those any of those companions are the cause. Are other companions still able to be recruited OK? This mod adheres to the vanilla companion fire/hire settings behavior (one companion allowed only) and I know there are other popular mods that change that. I'll see if there's some sort of solution I can add to the mod. I might do this: if you give a gift to Brooke she is instantly recruited.
while i'm sure she is probably 1 of the better FO3 mod companions i can't say she appeals to me for the following reasons:
1.) hard to find (literally in Rivet City where the guy try's to kill himself from) 2.) the fact you can't have other companions to "recruit" her 3.) she is a trigger happy NPC merchant NOT a companion
granted having a fully voiced companion in FO3 is a good thing but she has no quest/ no backstory and nothing appealing aside from the quirky random combat encounters you can trigger. her weapons and armour she sells are a uneven mix of weak to mid tier "junk" while her own weapons and armour you cant equip are OP as fuck.
her movement speed is faster than the players meaning you CAN'T follow her when she runs off killing things at random although you can fast travel to her at any time but who wants to fast travel constantly?
while she is mostly "fine" i can't say she is a companion i want around as she's just a bland trigger happy NPC with far too many restrictions
also others have mentioned a Skyrim companion and not having played Skyrim in years i can't comment about it but if you want a companion equal to the Skyrim 1 so highly praised you should check out Vanessa for FNV
Fallout New Vegas Mole Rat makes your claim Ozzy, wrong. You can indeed please most people, perhaps not everyone but you can add more for the character such as voice dialogue to make it feel more immersive and have the character some small level of quest or scripted scenes which while aren't a quest as least develops the potential. Given FNV is a slightly modified version of the same engine that FO3 uses there's no excuse.
While the mod isn't yours, you did get permission meaning you can in every sense of the word go though lengths to make it better. Than most FO3 companions make it become essentially the first FO3 Companion that has a rich background and the sort.
i agree that the FNV mod follower "Molerat" is a good companion for the right character build in FNV but i found his "event triggers" don't always trigger and his random dialogue makes it seam as though you (The Courier) are the "sidekick" while he (Molerat) is the main protagonist and as amusing as that was at first hearing the same barks about it over and over soon becomes annoying.
a better FNV follower sililar to Molerat is Hope Lies as she comes fully voiced, has a quest in a location you go to anyway and is half decent in combat. the only issues are her dialogue barks which become repetitive after a while.
that said like previously mentioned the best FNV mod follower is Vanessa as she is a more fleshed out version than the FO3 version, has loads of quests, perks, dialogue and adds loads of extra content to the map / game all with the added bonus of NOT being a GF sim like Willow
I won't be adding any grand backstory or quests to this mod, this wasn't even a companion mod to begin with. I don't want to make this mod more complicated than necessary.
I can upload an esm file with attempted fixes but I'll need a playtester like I said before otherwise I'm just guessing which part of the script causes crashing on Windows 10/11.
I sorted it just by using "resurrect" console command. Seemed to resolve it fine. Don't know if that helps inform your fixes at all (i.e a part of the script that is reset when using that command)? I'm no modder so forgive me if that sounds like nonsense haha!
Quick question which I couldn't find an answer to via Google.
I've met Brooke twice near and in Rivet City at this point but I have very few options other than selling her stuff, complimenting her which doesn't change anything and hitting on her or oogling her.
I can only seem to actually advance her dialogue by hitting on her (didn't try oogling her though). Is this intended or am I just jumping the gun on more topics appearing through other means? I'm mid 20s in level and have Very Good Karma.
I've reloaded since trying that route as I don't usually like overtly hitting on characters in the way I play, but yeah.
Yes the jokey "hitting on her" dialogue leads to Brooke becoming hireable if I recall correctly. I could look at adding an alternative topic for this if the right voice files can be found. There's a few other things in this mod I'd like to tidy up as well.
just a quick question before i go searching for ages haha, where is her home? Also, i sold her some power armor which i dont want her to wear, is there a way to stop her using stuff you sold her? i tried asking her to change outfit but just reverts back to PA straight away (assuming because its high dam res)
Brookes home is in Springvale. Brooke will send her excess local inventory to her home inventory after dismissal so you need to do that to remove that power armor.

giving her a backstory and quest and removing not having other companions with you as a restriction for FO3 would be a better waste of your time

Thanks for all the work you've done.
