Would it be possible to make a male player race with the same kind of look as the makeup plugin? I'd kinda like to do a playthrough looking similar to my 18 year old self and some Goth makeup would be perfect. XD

why comment on it? thats your opinion. you thought it was soo unappealing that you wasted your time and mine to mock the style choices of the modder?

I've come back to FO3 after a few years and tried this mod out on a fresh install w/ no other mods just vanilla w/ bittercup companion. I also have sydney companion.

This restyle just doesn't seem to work... it looks nothing like the screenshots... the hair is sorta there but the face looks dirty and darker...

I've done the ini tweaks and the archive invalidation and I've installed this using FOMM as well as manually.

I just wish she'd look like the screenshots... Shame really...

Did you use the make-up plugin as well or just the base makeover by itself?

So standalone doesn't actually mean standalone as you need another mod as well. Confusing IMO.

I have a problem with missing textures. The problem I have is that it is inconsistent. I installed Bittercup properly. She worked just fine for a while, then I started seeing her face and body glow purple. I tried reinstalling her completely, and it seemed to address the issue, but the purple glow keeps coming back every now and then. If it were happening all the time I could understand that I was missing textures, but I don't understand why it happens sometimes, and not others. Does anyone have a clue what could be causing this?

I like that the files are not too big. It took around 7 mins to install all of them. However I have the new type V bodies on and their is some texture problems with Bittercup, when I went to change out her armor and she was nude her lower half like mostly her backside she had some texture problems.

I also have the type 3/v raider pack installed. Bittercup might be conflicting with the three female body mods, and Breezes Male body mod. Still not bad of a mod Bittercup will answer your questions, childish or not with her ingame voice, not like other mods with no voice and we get stuck reading their text box.

I've managed to attach this mod to a Type 3 DIMONIZED body flawlessly -- all color (neck/torso) problems fixed, bittercup no longer "blinding white", and so forth.

    1. Install 1.3 Companion
    2. Replace bittercup_comp.esp with the Restyled version included wiht Companion 1.3
    3. Install the textures/meshes from Restyled V1_2

    4. Replace the body using TYPE3 DIMONIZED textures and meshes.

Using the textures and meshes from:

    TYPE3_BODY_V3dot5-4280.7z
    TYPE3_V2_TEXTURE_pack-4280.7z

Use the files in TYPE3 BASE HD body and replace the files in

    DataMeshescharacters\_malegothupperbody.nif
    DataTexturescharactersfemalehandgoth*.dds
    DataTexturescharactersfemaleupperbodygoth*.dds

You'll need to rename the files. For example:

    femaleupperbody.nif -> gothupperbody.nif
    handfemale.dds -> handgoth.dds
    handfemale_1st.dds -> handgoth_1st.dds

    5. Enable ArchiveInvalidation

    6. Run GECK and modify bittercup_comp.esp

If you're not familiar with GECK, here are the specific steps:

    - File/Data, check bittercup_comp.esp, click Set as ActiveFile, click OK

    - Open NPC / Goth / Female

    - Double-click Bittercup

    - On Traits tab, click "Can be all races"
    - Click Face Tab, click "Yes to All" when a warning comes up
    - Slide Complexion to far left (dark = -2.0)
    - Optionally, change hair color
    - Click preview Head if you want to see what she'll look like
    - Click OK
    - Choose File / Save
    - Choose File / Exit (this takes a while, don't worry).

That's it -- a perfectly rendered Bittercup, with the skin, meshes, and textures all matching, both clothed and nude.

I now believe it's possible to fix the texture issue. For all those of you who are having problems with Anach's alice texture (used instead of Vaungh's malos texture/mesh). I have a sneaky suspicion that the mismatch texture issue is related to the 'upperbodygoth_sks.dds'. If you delete this file you will likely still have the same problem. I found this description on the forum so this confirms one of my theories.

"_sks.dds - skin mask - used to mask out what parts of a model should be consider skin for the purpose of dynamically assigning skin tone through the game engine.
vanilla ones are all black is because the only vanilla objects that actually use _sk.dds files are objects that are all skin and as such don't mask away anything in neither RGB or alpha layers."

Because there are so many different textures flying around for this mod it's not at all hard to believe that we're all using different combinations, some getting it right, some not. Thus, some of us are using a suitable _sk.dds for Bittercups body. If we edit this, making it lighter somehow, we should be able to match the head colour.

I'm not sure HOW to go about editing the tone but if I figure it out and it works I will get in contact with the authors of these mods and make sure it's updated for each file. Can only try...

Firstly, I give this file a rating of 9. It would have been 10 had this texture problem been solved (and judging by the age of some of these posts it seems that it hasn't been fixed for 2 years or more!)

Okay.. I need help here, tried some things but could not fix it myself /o

Some degree of difference betwen skin colors is tolerable, but this is too much :/

Although I'm using EXNEM body, bittercup uses her own custom goth race, supposedly having all her goth meshes and textures set in the right folders should make her look as she should.. and not like this?, so I must be overlooking something.

I hereby invoke the help of anyone with skills actually reading this <img class=">

    Help ME!! XD

I'm also, like most people here, having the problems mentioned above.

I did the following on a clean installation with a few minor tweaks on my Fallout.ini and yes, bLoadFaceGenHeadEGTFiles has been included and set to 1:

    • I started out by installing the basic non-nude restyled version of Bittercup (using FOMM package manager)... first installing gurk_meja's and then the latest version of Vaungh's restyle (v1.2).
    • I then noticed there was a nude mod so I decided to test it out. There was no texture mismatching... however, I wasn't too keen on malos' body types.
    • I then found Vaungh's alice body type (MUCH MORE PREFERED AND MUCH MORE SUITABLE)... decided to install this by taking the Alice body type meshes and textures, overwriting then current ones and then reinstalling 'restyled bittercup' through the package manager in FOMM again.
    • There seemed to be no problems until I noticed after placing Bittercup next to me (using the console), that her new alice body appeared darker than the malos one. Yet her hands and face were a pale white, as they should be.
    • I searched through various threads on this issue and it seems no one has found an answer, not even the amazing modders like Loxy provided a work around to this. But, having seen the screen shots, I knew there had to be a way to fix this. I'm still determined. - http://www.fallout3nexus.com/imageshare/images/929033-1230623096.jpg

I'm wondering, Vaungh, unless you're having the same mismatch problems, I believe you my have omitted something from your uploaded mod without realising it?

So far, aside from setting bLoadFaceGenHeadEGTFiles to 1 I have tried the following -
    • Opening the upperbodygoth.dds (alice version) in paint.net (similar to GIMP - though I'll try it in GIMP soon)
    • I made the texture extremely pale. So much so that you could barely make out the detail (this was just to test it obviously). Hoping this would be the solution, I replaced the current texture with my brighter one.
    • There was a difference... perhaps it was slightly lighter but, it wasn't the colour I changed it to and It wasn't near white or anywhere near to the brightness of the face and hands - it was dim in comparison.
    • I repeated this process, making the texture complete white this time only to yield yet similar results.
    • So I figured that something else must be darkening the body... some other plugin. I checked the 'goth' race in GECK and the body appeared as the texture I created... totally white so the 'goth' body seemed FINE with alice's body so I refuse to believe it's incompatible.
    • When I previewed Bittercup (who is still attached to the 'goth' body) in the GECK's NPC section, it looked like this - http://img231.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=00406_Bittercup_122_539lo.jpg# So the body was darking for Bittercup only.

There is a setting somewhere and I can't place my finger on it.
Does anyone know if there is a way to change the tone of the body ONLY in the GECK?? I couldn't find it anywhere, only the head. Maybe there isn't one?

Anyway, because that didn't work, I decided to try and change the face tone, with an aim to darken it to fit the body. This proved to be quite tedeious:
    • any changes I made seemed to make her either too dark, or too light. I DID notice however that her 'facial complexion' is set to DARK and that, in the additional face attributes she's been given a very pale blush (whilst underneath all of what we see she is of dark complextion (ironic, no?).
    • It's quite confusing but to simplify: When look in the GECK - her face is SET 'black' or of 'dark complextion' but she's been overlaid with white blusher to give her the caucasian appearance (instead of starting with a whtie complextion base).
    • I'm not sure if this was Vaungh's intention or whether this is a mistake but I have a hunch that this MAY be the cause of the texture problem.

I'm not a 'modder' by any means but logic tells me that the colour of the body is going to follow the complextion of the NPC face (not the blush because that would be limited to the face only, surely?). But, the only problem with my theory is that this doesn't explain why malos' body texture worked without issue (it just looked ugly).

    • There was another theory I saw in the forum:
This problem only happens with NVIDIA cards. Well I doubt that, but I'll look into it.
My motherboard has an onboard Nvidia but I DO have an ATI Radeon 5870 HD so I presume this overrides it.

    • One final theory I had was that there my be a problem with the upperbodygoth_n.dds, upperbodygoth_sk.dds files. I'm not entirely sure what these do but I imagine they are quite important with regards to the skin colour. Could someone confirm this?

For now, I'm going to mess about with the settings in the GECK. Possibly rebuild her face using 'white complextion' to see if that makes a difference to the tone overlaid onto the 'goth' body mesh.

If all else fails I'll just have to be grateful with the texture mismatch but it would be very nice for someone to fix this. It can't be that hard for some of you modders... surely something I've overlooked.
