Early 2023 review: Little "detective style" investigation-quest about mythical killer. Every script worked as intended, no bugs or conflicts except, already mentioned by other users, overlaping door with D.C. Interiors Project and Fairfax Interiors mods. Nothing too critical, quest absolutely playable from start to finish. It's short, not very "note heavy" and, for me, really reminded Nick Valentine's questine from Fallout 4 (they aren't similar, it's just that pretty much all "detective side quests" in many games feel the same in structure and pace, if you look at them from stages structure point). This time nothing new or unique to write about, so let's get to conclusion. Should you try this mod in 2023? Yes, if you like this style of narrative genre and need something to do for 20-30 minutes. Endorsement from me.

The first two locations overlap with some other mods, but it's nothing that can't be resolved in a matter of seconds: - The location in Canterbury Commons overlaps with a tower of "Canterbury Commons Guards by ripple" so when exiting the house, you're stuck under the tower. Just tcl a few meters forward and that's it. - The location in NW Seneca station overlaps with "DCInteriors Project by chucksteel" by using the same door, but it's easy to detect which part of the door takes you to which location.
Thanks. These was one of my first mods (more than two years ago) and I would like to revamp it some day due its incompatibility with some mods, some bugs and my terrible redaction. I've have learned a couple of things since then and I've got some fresh ideas to revamp this mod as it deserves; I just need to find the time.
Compatibility update for anyone considering this mod: all locations conflict with other common mods, but with care nothing breaks the mod:
1) Yes the Gonzalez home's door is also used by DC Interiors (I think) as a pawn shop, but with care both doors can be separately activated. 2) The Stewart home's door overwrites the RCA Customer Center door of the Fairfax Interiors mod (though nothing important in that center). 3) The Colwyn home's door overwrites a raider apartment door of either Shadows & Dust or DC Interiors mod (but again nothing important). 4) I wouldn't even bother with the Canterbury Commons Guards mod - its guards keep falling off their towers, and it's an old stuttery mod with no immersion - i.e. they have no duty rotation etc, they're just stuck atop their perches (when not falling off). The DC Defence mod is a better/easier solution for Canterbury (and doesn't conflict with Pint-Sized Slasher or anything else).
Anyway, the main thing I guess is to make sure you load this mod after those mentioned above otherwise the home's doors might not show. Many thanks. Endorsed.
I love the setting of this quest, but it seems to not be working properly for me, when I spek with the old guy sitting on the floor, it does not give me an option to close the diolog, so I´m just stuck there. Do you have any idea why this might be happening? I really want to play this mod, I even created some sound files for the Slasher´s dialogo to make him sound a bit more creepy.
This issue can be caused by SCC (sahring and caring). Although I am sure there is a console command to close the dialog box. Since I dont use SCC it never happened to me.
Oh hell yes. I love detective mods. It was a bit short, but it felt right at home with the dark atmosphere set in the fallout universe. and you need help with voice acting, I can help with that.

First off I want to say thank you for your hard work. I haven't played a mod in awhile where I was completely invested from start to finish. It was dark, quaint, and macabre loved every second of it. FYI: If you need any help with voices I'd be glad to lend a hand I did some voice work for the Skywind mod. PM if you're interested in remastering the voices or need help in any future projects.
Thanks for your comment about my two mods. I do have a lot of ideas, but my job and my family doesnt leave me too much time free to mod. I would like to join the two mods in one .esp, cause the character of Detective Fields is repeated and you can have the two mods installed at the same time, but I dont know how to do that. I would have to redone all the work and maybe I would need female voices. It is a lot of work, believe me. But when people do possitive comment or possitive critics like yours, is encouraging. I would have in mind redone the two mos in one when I have the necessary time. thank a lot
Any chance you could put up a video of the mod, at least to show off the voice acting? I had some pretty bad experiences with atrociously voiced mods in the past, so it'd be nice to know what I am getting into first.

Aside from the voice work which could be improved on if he could get someone to do it. English isn't his first language so the mod doesn't suffers that much for it since the writing is actually well done. It's a really good mod I still had a lot of fun with it. hope this helps
Also I think you may have forgot to re-navmesh the aera around field's office and to fix the follow package and .evp with field's refrence in front of where he is scripted to change packages.

Some npcs like uncle roe spawned inside of the outside of field's offices in canterbury commons. If that does not make sense I made a video review of your mod in it I saw the bug happen 13:40 into it. Also Fairfax crashed every time I walked into it, but cells crashing in my game is common so take that very lightly unless others report similar events.

Well ,I fix the evp ,the navmesh is fine and i still have the same problem .I saw your video and I think your graphics problems maybe a compatibility issue with another or another mods . Sorry for my bad english ,I am an exiled cuban ,i did my best . I am planing on voice the girl when I find a girl that wants to cooperate ,cause my wife doesnt speak english .but I am more worried about the same problem we talk about .I am working on another mod ,but I want to fix this first before continue

Hello , again my friend .to fix the navmesh didnt solve the problem .I spent the night trying to find a way to fix it ,but in vain .Anyway your tutorial was very helpfull and will be useful in my future mods .I am grateful for your help and concern so I will credit you . By the way if you meet a girl that want to voice the character of Mary Colwyn ,feel free to do it .You have the GECK and my mod ;just send me the audio voices and the name of the girl to my hotmail to credit her too when I upload it .I reallly try to voice it myself but she sound like a transexual jajajaja.I will correct some ortographic language errors and other issues and if you decide to help me with Mary Colwyn voice I will wait to upload the final version. Maybe you should ask DesertRose2281 she maybe willing to help you. I have never spoken with her, but I know that she help out alot of other mod authors with female voice acting.

Great Mod, and I've looked over your other mods and have noticed something consistent: you place your commas and periods and other punctuation marks in the wrong places. I don't fully understand the situation (broken keyboard?) but someone who makes things as great as you did should maybe know that the period goes like this. Not like this .see the difference?
