I noticed that robots sometimes have these as loot, implying that they are powered by them. Maybe you should make robots have a chance of exploding like their batteries. Maybe have it happen when they receive a critical hit from an energy weapon or something.
Great idea and works well! Regarding the premise....a fission battery can be presumed to be get its energy from a small source of nuclear fissionable material. It stands to reason that disrupting whatever is used to contain and control that material would result in a chain-reaction "fizzle" rather than an all out nuclear blast. The nuka-grenade effect is a plausible representation of that, IMO. I just wish you could throw them, then shoot them.
Great mod you got here. Why shouldn't fission batteries explode, too? I mean, alkaline and lithium ion batteries explode, so why not fission batteries? Endorsed!
I thought the nuka grenade was a bit much given it's size, even the mini nuke is a bit of a stretch. As far as i know, a nuclear weapon requires a minimum amount of fissionable material to work. And I don't think it can fit in the palm of your hand or a football for that matter. The world of Fallout is one of miniaturized nuclear power. If they can get an atomic reaction into a football why not a long lasting battery. I mean these batteries are 200+ years old and people still use them. I'm lucky my flashlight lasts a couple of years. Since the world of Fallout seems to suspend the laws of physics I take that a fission battery will give one hell of a bang if it doesn't work.
This sounds like an awesome idea, and also dangerous, lol. I can see myself going into a room, shoot stuff, and get blown up because....there is a fission battery lying nearby. This will be so much fun
