About this mod

This mod ports the Paciencia from FNV GRA to FO3. There are (2) two versions of this mod; one for vanilla FO3 using .308 ammo, and one for FWE using CALIBR/xCALIBR and chambered to .338 Win-Mag. Ironsights compatible and comes with a custom firing sound.

Paciencia for Fallout 3
version 1.2

Description:
--------------
There aren't really any rifles comparable to the Paciencia in FO3.  You've got your standard Hunting Rifle, then jumping up to Lincoln's Repeater or the Backwater Rifle, but they're of a different style all together, and of little use by the time you get them, in my opinion.  I missed the more powerful "working man's" but UNIQUE hunting rifle from NV GRA, that can be used very effectively by low-mid level characters during gameplay, which for me was the Paciencia.  It never left my side through my entire NV play-through.  This mod ports Paciencia from FNV GRA to FO3, with all the specifications (where applicable) nearly the same.  I think it serves well as a mid-power rifle between the standard Hunting Rifle and some of the more powerful automatic weapons out there and various big guns.  Just like the Mojave, the wasteland needs something like this, too!

A version is located in an easy locked footlocker in one of the Springvale destroyed homes with some ammo.

NOTE!  I can NOT re-distribute the NV files!  You MUST also own a copy of NV and GRA, and extract the requisite meshes and textures yourself in order to use this mod!  Look at the installation heading below for an instructable!  This file ONLY contains the ESP files (and an optional customized mesh) that will ALLOW you to use those resources from NV in your FO3 installation.

The stats match the NV version where possible.
Stats below are given in the format of vanilla/FWE amounts, respectively.

dmg/attack: 55/102
crit damage: 110/110

Compatibilities:
-------------------
I thought this was going to be simple because my That Gun mod worked like a champ and was crazy-easy.  This gave me problems, though, since it wasn't really lined up for Ironsights and the textures were hardcoded into the mesh making it difficult for me.  I had to download and install Nifskope in order to get the thing to function halfway decently, over the course of a few evenings.  For the vanilla version, it uses standard .308 ammo and only requires the Fallout3.esm to use.  If you're using FWE, there is a special FWE version that requires the use of FWE, CALIBR, and xCALIBR to change the ammo chambering to .338 Win-Mag.  PERFECT for carrying around the DC wastes to knock down those Yao Guai and Deathclaws!

Installation:
--------------
YOU MUST USE THE RESOURCES from New Vegas and GRA, therefore, you must already OWN New Vegas and GRA in order to use this mod, so follow the steps below before you install it with your manager, I think it's self-explanatory and not too difficult to anyone familiar with modding:
1. Download and install FOMM.
2. Use FOMM's Tools Menu and go to BSA Browser.
3. Select Gun Runners Arsenal - Main.bsa from your ..\New Vegas\Data folder.
   a. Search for "rifleunique" in the archive (without the quotes).
   b. Extract all of the texture files in the search results.
   c. Here is the important part, create /nvdlc05/textures/weapons/2handrifle folder structure UNDER /data/textures, so your resultant directory should look like this:  /data/textures/nvdlc05/textures/weapons/2handrifle.
   d. Copy all of the *.dds files in the search results into the last folder you just created in the preceding step.
4. Select Gun Runners Arsenal - Main.bsa from your ..\New Vegas\Data folder a SECOND time.
   a. Search for "uniquehuntingrifle" in the archive (without the quotes).
   b. Extract the ONLY mesh file in the search results, should be "nvdlc051stpersonuniquehuntingrifle.nif".
   c. And once again, create /nvdlc05/meshes/weapons/2handrifle folders UNDER /data/meshes, so your resultant directory structure should look like this:  /data/meshes/nvdlc05/meshes/weapons/2handrifle.
   d. Copy the *.nif file from the search result into the last folder you just created in the preceding step.
5. Copy "bronze_e.dds" from ..\New Vegas\Data\Textures\effects to the same \Data\Textures\effects folder under \Fallout3.

(Sorry for the forward slashes, I'm a Ubuntu guy, just assume all of the forward slashes are back slashes.)

NOTE: It HAS to be done this way because the textures are hard-coded into the mesh, so you need to create the directory structure it expects to see.  Trust me, I pulled my hair out on that one.  You can modify it if you're OCD, but for compatibility sake I just left it as-is.

IF YOU USE RH_IRONSIGHTS:  There is a custom mesh in my distribution called RH_Paciencia.nif, and you need to use THAT MESH if you want to make use of RH_Ironsights or the sights will be too high (you'll wind up looking at the back of the bolt).  Just rename it to "nvdlc051stpersonuniquehuntingrifle.nif" and copy it OVER the similarly named mesh file you extracted from the New Vegas Gun Runners Arsenal - Main.bsa.  I had to play around with it in Nifskope, which isn't too friendly to super-beginners and computer graphics simple-folk like me, but I did my best.  If you see any glaring problems with it, just let me know and I'll make a note to change/fix it.  It seems okay in gameplay to me, but I'm not everyone.

6. Download and install with NMM or FOMM.  It will dump the *.esp files into your /data folder, and also extract the sound files into your sounds folder that are used by this mod.  Load order should not matter, just put it with all of your other weapon mods.

There are (2) TWO esp's for this mod:

Paciencia.esp -- for the vanilla game.
PacienciaFWE.esp -- for those who are using FWE.

USE ONLY ONE OR THE OTHER ESP, NOT BOTH SIMULTANEOUSLY!

Issues:
--------
I had to adjust the mesh for Ironsights use by dropping the rifle down a bit.  As a result, there is a black "dot" above the forward sight.  I'm not sure if it's in the mesh or in the texture.  If someone has some ideas how to eliminate it, I'd love to hear them.  The aim appears to be pretty accurate, however, I tested this with a fairly low-level character (almost to level 8!) so advanced characters might have a slightly different opinion.  I could easily stand on the stoop outside my Megaton house and repeatedly pick off Lucy West and Nathan with a headshot across Megaton.

Changelog:
-------------
v1.0 -- initial release.

v1.2 -- added CritKnockDown effect on Death.
changed structure of *.7z file so it's similar to my other mods.
