this was a very handy tool untill fallout mod manager came out.
FOMM has its own .bsa creator and unpacker. very easy to use, no hex editing.

lordbelfast, no need to present yourself like this. The description clearly states in the 1st line to use a different utility called FO3 Archive and I also mentioned that in the post just below yours.

Please don't make a habit of typing such remarks BEFORE reading what is already available to you.

That is why I recommended FO3 Archive as it is 100% effective. This tool requires some butchering and even then the compression on the textures is different from Oblivion which requires a different tool.

So at best, this tool "can" extract everything except the compressed textures.

gengrimm, were you somehow surprised? I made the description about as clear as it gets regarding this tool (which was released for Oblivion...well before Fallout 3 existed)

You have to change byte 4 (!) from 68 to 67 instead of byte 5.

I used HxD, a very fast and free HexEditor > Google.

If somebody uses a MS mouse with Intellipoint 6.3 (like my MS Sidewinder X5) he will get an Intellipoint error message while unpacking every single file with BSA Commander.

To stop this remove the tick from checkbox "restart Intellipoint" at this error message window.

I'll save you guys the trouble of finding it -- ScripterRon posted a very simple archiver tool that appears to work perfectly, even for the texture BSA (I was having the texture BSA issue too). Here is the link he posted in the thread on the Bethsoft forums -- scroll down a bit to the Fallout 3 Archiver. Link: http://ronald.hoffman6.googlepages.com/home
