Please note that the mod is no longer supported.

Thank you all for the support and kind comments, this was an interesting journey, but my life no longer lets me dedicate time to modding, as it takes too much of the time that I use to earn a living. I can no longer afford it.

First of all: thank you so much for this, that shine was driving me nuts. Secondly: I'm only in the middle of my first PC playthrough, so I've only been able to test Black Emporium (including the mirror) and Descent, but both work with this (it doesn't just protect modded hair!): https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonageinquisition/mods/2712

Hi. I know this isnt supported anymore, but I still would like to write this in case other people end up having the same issue.

This mod seems to freeze my game in very certain areas (Deep Roads, Black Emporium, might be others). I would get the loading screen, and then it would fade to black and the game would freeze.

Might be a combination of this mod plus something else.

Yeah i should have written here that any de-shine mods including this one do not work with trespasser and other DLCs, they cause ctds and black screens.
Its not that the mod is broken or needs update, its the way the game is built.
I have no idea why but any edits to specific maps that affect facial shine do not work with any DLCs. None of the mods on Nexus fix that, and none of the modders and coders were able to solve this issues. So for those DLCs you will have to switch off the deshine mods.

I will update the description so people would not get confused.

I was about to ask for advice on how to remove shine from textures, because I wanted to do something about the awful armor shine, but if this won't work with DLCs then I won't bother.

Hiya. Are you using a different stubble mod, or is the skin texture change really just affecting the way everything, including stubble, looks?

I know I was 100% NOT using any stubble mods there. Dont have need for them bc I never play male characters

maybe thats why i havent noticed any difference. Does it look different to you?

It's amazing how much better the default complexions look without the shine. What were they thinking? Such a shame they are incompatible with Trespasser.

Oh I have no idea. Bioware sure does like their shine a lot. Though I admit it does feel strange that everyone is so... oily... Maybe an oversight on the part of the art department, I dunno.

thank you so much! I think like 95% of my inquisitors end up using deshine complexion 3 (there don't seem to be any mods that replace it that keep the sort of warm undertone default 3 has?)
any chance for a seperate de-shine of complexion 2 for female humans (or hf+ef)? I love my freckle kid but she looks so dang sweaty all the time

      Thank you

Complexion 2 replacer is called dwarf female i called it as such because thats how its called in tbe game files. Humans elves and dwarves all share 3 base complexions and all are deshined

Another question, since this mod replaces things, does it work in combination with your female complexions?

The female complexions all replace female complexion 3 for humans/elves/dwarves and complexion 1 for qunari. So yes, the all-in-one de-shine is incompatible with them. I was not sure if people needed a compatibility version, no one asked so far. Would you like one? And compatibility with which complexion exactly.

Nice mod. great work! Now if I only could make the metallic textures of DAI less shiny...

I can try and take a look at metal, I've never worked with materials before - should be interesting. It will be incompatible with LL crafting most likely. And I will only be able to do it at the end of September.

Haha, that would be great, I just think DAI is a very shiny game and with some armours, I noticed it with Dorian's default costume. He has a lot of diamond metal shapes, and they all shine a lot, kinda look's annoying/bad. Large pieces on other armours are mostly fine.

Anyway, keep up the good work!

thank you so much! this is really beautiful and now my inquisitor doesn't have to look like a sweaty greasemonster.

just a side thing though, the 'human male' file seems to replace complexion 3 instead of complexion 1.

Oh thank you for the find I'll update the description. I knew I messed something up because males have more variations than females.

    Hello,

thanks for the mod. :-) great idea, great mod.

Is there a possibility to have a little bit shine on the lips and no shine on the face?

    THANKS :-)

PS: Does the lips still shine a little bit?

Yes I understand.. But are you aware you could change the lip shine in the Black Emporium?

Btw, I love your portait Jaheira brings so many memories <3

Ohh so I could install your mod and this mod make my character skin not-sjine and than I can chance my lips to shine a bit in the Character Generator or in the Emporium?

I thought you disabled the "lip shine" somehow.

      Thanks

Yes of course the mod just edits the skin texture, i didnt touch anything else. If you create a new character or edit them in BE you can still use full makeup.

The mod was done for the people that wanted default textures but didnt like the obligatory lip gloss

I think I left a tiny bit of shine for women, but removed almost all shine for men.

      .

Oh .. thats .. a great idea. And you made it very clever ... you haven't just "done" something: You gave thoughts to this mod before .... Sorry I'm always impressed and fascinated about the Modders work, like you and Skaramoosh and Aravasia (Better bodys).

So I can finally create now my not-shining, bit-lip-shine Inquisitor. Hehehe ...

I *HUG* you and thank you a lot.
