The merging of mods is with the old DAI Modmanager, so you don't have to do it with Frosty. I think that, provided you put your patch version number up above 15, the save should work with Frosty. I hope so! Please let me know if it works or not. I'm not necessarily knowledgeable about mods and mod managers and how they all affect the save files, so anything I learn about what works and what doesn't is helpful to me.
edit: I downloaded the file from here and opened it using just Frosty, and it worked fine for me. Just be sure to go to Program Files (86)/Origin Games/Dragon Age Inquisition/Update/Patch and, using notepad, open up the "package.mft" file. Where it says "Version #", you can change the number to 16 and it should work fine. My fingers are crossed!
Not working .. I mean I can see save on load screen but it wants new version ..It was 11 than I changed to 13 like you said but nothing changed..Also I dont understand what u mean with ''start your mod manager''? should I do something ? Can be more spesific.. It says version is 13 on my diamond mod manager..
After you change the patch version to 13, open up your mod manager and run a merge. That should make your mod-patch version 14. Of course, you can also just go into the mod patch folder, open up that package.mft and change the number to 14, save it, close it, and it should work. I hope you're able to make it work! And thanks for saying I'm a hero, but I'm really just a Dragon Age fan with too much time on my hands.
I did try and even deleted my dragon age and installed again but saddly I never able to use your save files.. I wish I can use them ..But you are still hero for me ..maybe you played the game for fun but you also helped people so it does makes you hero =) and new dragon age coming ! I hope you are happy about it thanks!
Oh no! I hate that you went through all of that trouble and it still didn't work! Can you test one of the other saves of mine to see if it does the same thing, or if it's just this file that doesn't work. I made the saves because I love playing the game, but am long past the point of wanting to run the main quests again. It's been a fun experience, especially when I see so many people using the saves and enjoying them. I am SUPER excited about DA4, it cannot come out soon enough!
Hey! I just wanted to let you know that I finally figured out how to fix this problem with the save saying that it requires a newer version. I spent hours tinkering and trying the same "fixes" over and over again, broke my game a few times, repaired, updated, etc etc. And this is what finally worked for me 100%...
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Dragon Age Inquisition\Update\Patch and open the package.mft file in Notepad. Change the version in package.mft to Version 98. Save and close.
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Dragon Age Inquisition\Update\Patch_ModManagerMerge and open the package.mft file in Notepad. Change the version in package.mft to Version 99. Save and close.
This is literally the only thing that worked for me. I'm now happily playing your amazing saves. THANK YOU for these, by the way!!
Thank you, syrenie, for posting this fix! I've been sharing it around when I get other folks who are running into the same problem. I appreciate you sharing it!!!
This save file sounds so awesome. I really love to be able to just play the story, unfortunately I got the "newer patch" error massage as well. I upped the numbers to 16 and it was still not working. :(
Edit: Apparently the safe file works only with one applied hair mod - as soon as I apply like two of them 'it's bye bye safe file'. Thank you so much.
Hello and thank you SO MUCH for this!! I was just curious about which dialogue this Inquisitor chose when talking with Leliana about the traitor agent in Haven ^^ (meaning, did she stop her from killing the traitor or let her do it?) I'd love to "soften" her in this playthrough, but I wasn't sure if I could in this file? Thanks again!!
cant open. not sure why. i have the deluxe edition, same game and mod manager versions 13 and 14. still the save requeries a newer version. Furthermore it asks for trespasser hakkon descent and black emporium witch i have
Thanks never the less. Even with the ' "All Side Quest Done" saves by Lightis, asks only for the trespasser DLC, and a newer version of the game. Even tried put a mutch higher game version and still it persists
I have a different EF mage on here, one I made when I still had all of the deluxe edition stuff installed. Have you tried that one? Not sure if it'll make a difference, but it could be worth a try.
thats exacly what happens to me.. like he said it also ask me trespasser DLC when I use another mod called ''all side quest done'' by Lightis..It is strange cause it only asks trespasser but when I try your mod it wants evry dlc ..
The requirement of those dlcs is because of schematics. But I don't understand why it won't let you open the file if you have all of those. Any chance you've tried one of the other saves I've made to see if it does the same thing to you? I wonder if it's this save in particular that's giving you trouble, or if it's all of my saves. I wish I was able to offer more help, but I don't understand why it won't work in the first place.
I have 11 more original characters to make to cover all of the race/class/gender combos. That's a few weeks work, but I'll play the EF mage through allied with the mages before I do any of the others. Cool?
I have to say, I'm not sure why that would happen. If you're putting the save file into your save folder, it should be there. I want to help, but I"m not sure what to do?
I absolutely love this, and really appreciate all the time you've put into doing all of these!! I've played through sooo many times, and slogging through all the side quests is such a pain when all I want is to play the story and do the romances (lol). I'm having a great time not having to worry about all the little side things with Elay'na (what I've named her in my head, since I can't change the name in-game). I changed her looks so I'll add some of my screenshots, as well!
Once again, thank you so much, I really look forward to grabbing some more of these saves and using them for my other playthroughs~
Your screenshots are fantastic!!!! Thank you so much for sharing them with me! I'm glad you're enjoying the saves! :) Strangely, I like the slogging through part! When I finish all the race/gender/class combos, I'll be going back through to ally with the opposite side.
