Thank you so much for your help in passing the game, a high-quality mod and very necessary, now I know exactly where I need to go! It works without problems.Good luck and good health to you!
I will try help to everyone who have or will have issue like mine or simillar
After trying patchign etc i literally deleted folder patch in folder UPDATE in main Game folder ( i made copy before that) Then i renamed folder Patch_ModManagerMerge to just PATCH and also i deleted from main game foldernamed MODDATA
Then deleted all mods from frosty and added them again ( also i have ticked on Launched Options EA App)
Can someone help I did the pluginfix for frosty i deleted plugin for launcher and now it cant start game through frosty app. It opens EA app and nothing it shows that game is running but nothing happens. Any ideas?
I dunno if it's related but I got this issue every time I launched Dragon Age II after being forced to 'upgrade' from Origin to the new EA app which is garbage, buggy as hell and makes Origin seem decent in comparison.
I fixed it by going into Windows task manager (Ctrl+shift+escape) shutting down the game process that was running from there, and then restarting it, which always worked.
If that fails and it still won't run then as far as Frosty is concerned I have the most success by always launching Frosty Mod Manager first, then launching the EA Desktop app, and then clicking 'Launch game' within the Desktop app.
It's important that you're running Frosty in administrator mode, and it's important that you're not running any conflicting mods, which could be what's causing the game to fail to start.
I'd personally try uninstalling all your mods, then deleting the folder called 'ModData' from the Dragon Age Inquisition install folder, and then trying to run the game from Frosty with no mods installed.
If it runs then you know that it's probably a mod that's the problem. Install them all one by one, and test each one is working.
To be fair i reinstaled and did the Datapath fix thing and now its runnign game fine but mod not applied.... idk really why or maybe i need to set up some settings but i have no clue
Try installing one mod that's obvious to spot if it's working or not, such as No More Fog of War, then delete the 'ModData' folder from the Dragon Age Inquisition install folder.
Then launch the game once more from Frosty Mod Manager. You should get some screen prompts, followed by a black cmd screen briefly showing some scrolling text, if you get that far you know you're on the right track.
Honestly it took me forever to get mods working since the switch over to the new EA Desktop App.
I can get this working using the DatapathFix for Frosty Mod Manager, and use it with some other mods, but as soon as I install any mod that affects crafting, ores, items, cloth etc. No More Fog of war immediately stops working until I uninstall the crafting mod. I have no idea why.
Edit: Fixed now, just had to delete the Mod Data folder to get it working.
Sorry for the noob question but this is my first time trying to mod DAI and I'm hoping that someone, ANYONE, can help me install this mod!
I bought my version of the game on Steam about a month ago but I noticed it still loads up the EA app simultaneously with Steam when I launch the game. My game is installed on a separate drive but I changed Steam's launch target (not sure if any of this information makes a difference but I thought I would add the details in case it does). I'm running Windows 10.
I downloaded Frosty Mod Manager 1.0.6.2 using the link provided by the author. I created a folder on my desktop for DAI mods, and two folders inside that: one for Frosty Mod Manager and another folder for the mods. My launch order is as follows:
No More Fog of War No More Fog of War - PatWP Compatibility Patch
After finding it doesn't work when I launch the game from Frosty Mod Manager with standard settings I've been trying to troubleshoot it with the help of advice in the comments, google and Youtube.
With platform launching not checked the game loads but the mod doesn't work. I tried changing the launch platform to EAdesktop but I get stuck on a load screen on the Frosty Mod Manager end. I changed the launch platform to Steam and it loads but the mod doesn't work. Have tried loading seperate save files, one in the prologue area and the other one is in the Hinterlands just in case this mod doesn't affect the prologue area.
I deleted the ModData folder from the DAI folder and repeated all the steps, still not working.
Running out of ideas . . . could it have something to do with the patch version of the game itself? I'm not sure how to check what version I'm running.
Thanks in advance for any help and advice.
EDIT* Also I have been opening Frosty Mod Manager with administrator settings and have tried restarting the computer.
There's currently an issue with Frosty Mod Manager 1.0.6.2 and the new EA app that causes mods to not be applied.
Unfortunately, I have no experience with modding DAI while using Steam, so I can't really give specific advice on that, but I'd recommend trying either: A) using the DatapathFix with Frosty Mod Manager 1.0.6.2 or B) using Frosty Mod Manager 1.0.6.2 (BETA 2) 1.0.6.2 (BETA 1). Option B is the route I've personally gone with, but you'll have to download it from the Frosty GitHub since it's a pre-release version. If you take the option B route, don't forget to make sure your launch platform is set to Steam.
Tried both the DatapathFix and downloaded the BETA2 version of Frosty Mod Manager and neither works unfortunately. I couldn't find a launch platform drop down box in the options for the BETA2 version, there wasn't a local launch .dll file in the Plugins file either. After 6 collective hours of trying to get a mod to work I'm almost completely burned out, haha . . . can only imagine how hard it is for modders to actually mod this game when I can't even start one up!
I'm going to give the alternative mod manager a go.
EDIT I only just realised you're the author of this mod! Got it working first go using DAI Mod Manager. Damn Frosty!! Sent a little donation your way for your work. Cheers :)
First off, thank you so much for the donation! That was very kind of you!
Secondly, I am so sorry. I got 1.0.6.2 (BETA 1) and 1.0.6.2 (BETA 2) mixed up.
In my experience, it's 1.0.6.2 (BETA 1) (not BETA 2 as previously mentioned) that works with the EA app without having to install additional plugins - just set the launching platform. I can't confirm if it works with Steam, but could be worth a shot if you feel like trying it out sometime.
As for using the DatapathFix with 1.0.6.2, it should work as long as it's properly installed (start fresh and delete all mod related folders from the game's directory, delete LaunchPlatformPlugin.dll from 1.0.6.2's Plugins folder, place both DatapathFixPlugin.dll and the DatapathFix folder from DatapathFixPlugin.zip into 1.0.6.2's Plugins folder), but I do see a few people in the Frosty Discord that unfortunately can't seem to get the mod manager to apply mods.
I'm sorry that I couldn't have been more helpful, but at least the DAI Mod Manager worked out!
Ha, ha well mistakes have been made on both sides.
Although the BETA1 solution didn't work, I gave the Datapathfix solution another go and it worked! Funnily enough, it just took a long time. I downloaded a mod called Winter In Thedas in order to visually acknowledge changes at a glance. It looked as if the launcher did its thing but the game didn't boot, same as last time. No errors, the game just didn't boot. However, unlike last time, this time I didn't immediately start fiddling with settings and trying alternative methods to boot the game with mods.
In the process of replying to you the game suddenly booted after about 5 minutes, ha ha. Although I still haven't tested it with your Frosty version of the mod again, I will soon.
Sorry for the late reply, but it's been busy at work this week. I confess I have been playing some Dragon Age for an hour or so before bed each night with your mod, though. It's greatly improved the game for me so thanks again. :)
P.S. You're welcome for the donation. It's not much but at least you can buy yourself a coffee on me!
Ah, yeah, something I've had the Frosty Mod Manager (and Editor) do a few times since the EA app update is act like it's loading mods, but then get stuck waiting for the game to start. I usually cancel that attempt and launch again, which works... but when I exit the game, Frosty immediately reapplies the mods and starts the game back up.
Very happy to hear that you're enjoying the mod, though!
