You could always revert to an older version of the game that works with this mod. Right-click the game in Library,go to properties,click the Beta tab, then use the drop-down menu to select the version of the game you want to run.
I would love to see something like this for A17, but I also imagine that would be a lot of work. Still, would be really great to play through in the new stuff.

As what Rencer said. You could Always try though. Just keep a backup for the Original one just in case. Tbh i highly doubt everything works as planned since you are directly changing corefiles of the game.
Hey sorry to ask what may be a stupid question, but I want to tweak the hunger and thirst values that you started on. Could you point me towards the Correct Xml file I need to do that?
