Pls no discussion what Modmanager is "Outdated" and what is "the best". These are subjective meanings. This is designed for those who have little skills but look for a fast and easy Modmanager. Each of them may have its special (dis)advantages, it's same like with cars. Are all "outdated" because there is Tesla? Or compare Mercedes with BMW and VW, none is "outdated" because one prefers that and another prefers the other. So here only discussion to NMM Community is alllowed, not to Tesla or Mercedes.

Is the new NMM version safe to install big mods like Beyond Bruma? Or do I have to go through manual installation?

there is no limit by NMM, however, I recommend in general first to downolad the zip or 7z in an extra folder on PC, then use "install from File" because sometine internet  and/or Nexus' mirrors make problems.

Hi, for some reason after years of use nmm just stopped to activate new mods, it won't load them at all.
The simple mods can be manually installed (no need of nmm) but the bigger ones?
    So, little help?

Edit- Found the newer releases, looks like GOG AE is supported. I'll probably use this again. I like to build, optimize and then keep my mod lists the same for playthroughs for years. Usually just launching off of a script extender shortcut from my desktop. NMM always worked fine for me and the CE still works fine for me for FO3 FNV Skyrim, which is mostly what the original NMM was around for anyway.

    Hello Community,

i'm using NMM since i started modding games circa 2008 and never had any problems. With the NMM CE i modded my fallout4 ~600 Mods and SkyrimSE ~730 Mods and now it happendend from one day to the other, NMM CE doesent work anymore because it has no write permission for my SSE Mods folder (?)
I had a similar problem with FO4, but i learned to start NMM with Admin rights and i works great, but i never needed it for SSE. I also tried it this way with SSE now but i still get the same error msg.

Is it save to change the mods folder to allow write permission?
    Is there another workaround?
Why is this happening out of nowhere?

    I'm a little overtaxed atm.

NMM needs to be on same drive as Skyrim SSE
I can't say to other, as I use(d) it for LE and SSE only, and both are on D.\, so NMM also is on D.\
maybe you need to let NMM rescan for mods installed.
      I use v. 0.83.3.0 , latest version is 0.83.6

      Thanks for your answer,
"NMM needs to be on same drive as Skyrim SSE"
Yes i learned that a few years ago and it definitly is. :)

"maybe you need to let NMM rescan for mods installed"
Well, i have not thought about that, because it happened out of nowhere. I will try it later.

      latest version is 0.83.6 "
I don't know which Version i have, but as far as i remeber it updated itself a short while ago.
But it is the current verion that worked fine yesterday, but not today. Also, i have not
      installed any new things recently.

thanks for your time, i will post a short update after i tried to rescan.

      Update
After a rescan i still get the same error message.

Can someone tell me if it is safe to change the write permission for the mod folder?

      edit
I just found out NMM CE created a copy of my Mod folder in my common files SkyrimSEMods-copy inclusive 4 mods  and VirtualModConfig.xml.

What the hell is going on now? That never happend to me in almost 15 years.

I really appreciate that NMM is continuing. Vortex confuses me even though I've watched Gopher's how to more than once. The only thing is that sometimes it doesn't communicate well with some mods and the FOMOD setup. I don't know if it is NMM side or the mod author not writing things correctly for NMM.
Thank you for your hard work. As I said I really appreciate it.

My only problem is , how do I get NMM to search my D drive instead of just going through every unlikely section of my C drive ?

I wouldn’t even think of discussing what, what, and how.
    This stuff is fantastic!
I especially love it ... especially when the * Enderal - Forgotten Stories.esm "file name is loosely deleted from the load list.
It took me almost half a hundred hours to figure out the nonsense and why the game didn't work ... by no means.
It must be checked after each start-up and RE-replaced manually!
So as far as I am concerned, this is an extremely great and well done job!

    -----

Siralmas...

Is there a good reason why you're using an outdated mod manager over Vortex?   NMM as far as I know is depreciated, discontinued and unsupported...

Vortex takes all the best aspects from Mod Organizer and NMM and combines them and simplifies them to make it very easy and straight forward for new users to learn...

I mean I never cared for Mod Organizer and always used NMM right up until I started to do an SE build but once I switched to Vortex I never looked back nor would I.  It's much better IMO.

But hey I'm curious to know why someone would still use NMM.   If there is a missing feature or drawback that is preventing you from upgrading it would be helpful to know.

I personally started on FOMM years ago, moving to NMM, then to MO2, and I find Vortex to be confusing.

NMM Community Edition is a community maintained and up-to-date version of NMM that is, in some ways, surpassing Vortex in terms of stability and functionality. It's last update was literally a day ago on Github - the version hosted on this site is a year out of date.

EDIT: I too find Vortex confusing. MO2 is legitimately easier to use than that software, but I still prefer NMM simply due to being so familiar with how it works and having based by modding workflow around it.

same for me at first, but then i sticked to vortex and i got to admit it actually is better with file conflict management and also more stable.

Dead wrong , NMM is by far the easiest to use and has been since day one . All someone who has never used a computer needs to safely mod their game is NMM and Loot . Mod organizer and Vortex both require way more computer skill / experience to even figure out what the hell you're looking at and how to use it .

I like NMM the best, it gives me what I want without a lot of fuss or confusion. Tried MO and Vortex, didn't like them, but I am not a modder and am just a plain gamer that likes to use mods, not make them, so for me, NMM is perfect. Never had a problem with it that I couldn't figure out. Thanks for this!
