About this mod

What this mod does? (SEE CHANGELOG)
It removes the Zone Highways (not the Superhighways) and increases booster's speed with virtual no shield drain, to be used for navigation among zones. The radar range is also augmented 10x
The mod includes a "real physics" add-on you can choose that makes your ship moves in a more newtonian fashion, changing a lot the gameplay. Booster is increased so you can use the booster also for traveling long distances since no local highwys exhist anymore.

PLEASE INSTALL ONE OF THE OPTIONAL ADD-ONS OTHERWISE TRAVELLING IS TOO BORING.

THE PHYSICS ADD-ON (ASSISTED OR FULL) INCLUDES AN IMPROVEMENT OF PERFORMANCE FOR PLAYER'S AND ENEMY FIGHTERS TOO. IT IS VITAL TO USE IT, FOR INSTANCE IN NO_LANE MOD SMALL FREIGHTERS USE THE BOOSTER, IF YOU DON'T ADD THE PACK THEN THE ATTACKING SHIPS DURING THE ESCORT MISSIONS CAN NOT REACH THEIR SPEED. IN GENERAL WE HAVE NOTICED AN INCREASED AI PERFORMANCE AND FOR SURE ENEMY SHIPS ARE NOW MUCH MORE LETHAL.


You have to restart the game, sorry (NOT FOR THE PHYSICS ADD-ON ONLY). If somebody finds a solution either by editing the save file containing references to the highways or using a different approach that does not ivolve the editing of /MAPS files, please INFORM ME!

You can also use only one of the add-ons, they are finished and bug-free. They are compatible with any save file but be aware that since v.1.5 they increase the performance of ALL fighter ships not only of player's ship

To install, just decompress the content inside the "../extensions" folder of the game. If you don't have the folder, create it. It mus be in the main directory of the game, where Rebirth.exe is

I'VE ADDED OTHER 2 OPTIONAL FILES YOU CAN USE IF YOU WANT TO EXPERIENCE REALISTIC FLIGHT PHYSICS IN REBIRTH. DUE TO THE LIMITATION OF THE ENGINE (UP TO NOW) THE FULL NEWTONIAN MODEL IS QUITE UNUSABLE SINCE IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO USE THE STRAFING IN FULL NEWTONIAN. THE SECOND OPTION (ASSISTED) IS A COMPROMISE BETWEEN THE VANILLA PHYSICS AND THE FULL INERTIAL.

WEAPONS AND MISSILES HAVE BEEN IMPROVED ACCORDINGLY, TO MATCH THE HIGHER SPEED AND LOWER ACCELERATION OF ALL SMALL SHIP, PLEASE DON'T INSTALL OTHER WEAPON REBALANCING MODS OR CHECK THE FILES
