Since XCOM 2 was out i was thrilled with the possibility of slashing swords at aliens. Then i was soon dissapointed by the melee mechanics.

It has too many drawbacks in vanilla:

1.) Less damage and critial chance than shotguns
2.) You are very exposed after a melee atack
3.) Chance you trigger another pod

This class aims to make melee fun and rewarding. Its possibly not balanced in lower diffculties.

I recommend mods like A Better Advent ( http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=628891110 ) or other mods that enhance difficulty.

The Ability Tree:

SQUADDIE:

+Sword Slice
+Way Of TheSamurai (+3 damage and +10 hit chance with swords. Aim penalty of -20 to primary weapons)

Kensai (Left Tree)

CORPORAL:
+Unstoppable (Melee attacks never graze. Try to counter that you pesky mutons!)

SERGEANT:
+Bladestorm (Like vanilla)

LIEUTENANT:
+Training Discipline (Provides +3 mobilty and +30 dodge.)

CAPTAIN:
+Lightning Reflexes (The hit chance of reaction fire against this unit is reduced by 90 percent for the first shot, and by 70 percent for additional shots.)
DEPRECATED
[-Implacable (Like vanilla), replaced by Lightning Reflexes]

MAJOR:
+Shigurui (When wounded in battle get 1 additional action point, +80 dodge and +50 crit chance(melee only) for 2 rounds.)

COLONEL:
+Whirlwind Strike (Perfom two slashes at the target. Each has an aim penalty of -15. No cooldown.)

Ronin (Right Tree)

CORPORAL:
+Energy Focus (Adds shredder damage to your melee attacks)

SERGEANT:
+Danger Sense (Tracks movement within 20 meters. Can't be suprised be faceless or burrowed cryssalids)

LIEUTENANT:
+Yamabushi Heritage (gain +2 armor, +30 defense and can regenerate 2 HP per round, max to 6 HP)

CAPTAIN:
+Untouchable (Like vanilla)

MAJOR:
+Dragon Strike (5 meter radius aoe melee attack. Requires 2 AP to activate. 5 turn cooldown)

COLONEL:
+Shinigami (Each time you kill a living target collect soul that you can use to boost your AP.
Consuming a soul to add one AP is a free action, but you can do it only if you have not moved this turn.
Soul count resets at the start of each battle.
For every 10 souls you collect in total you gain +1 critical chance and for every 20 souls +1 critical damage (melee only, based on overall melee killcount from all battles since shinigami is added)
To really benefit from multiple AP i strongly recommend the One AP Sword Mod so you can blue move slash without ending your turn.
If you don't use it you can just run really far ;))

Compatibly:

This mod don't overwrite any classes or abilities, so there should be no problem with other mods. If you have any compatibility issues let me know.

Todo:
- Add a custom class and GTS-Perk icon. If you have skills with icons and are willing to help please contact me :)
- Replace Reaper with a custom perk, since its really OP with this class [DONE]
- Replace Implacable (perhaps) when i have an idea for s.th. cooler [DONE]
- Make animation of Whirlwind Strike more fluent (if possible, no promises ;))
