Hi, Thanks for this awesome mod. I think the idea is really make sense of giving different general attribute for male and female.
but I found out that this mod can make a new recruit stat not balance anymore For instance, I adjust the value so that every new recruit getting all stats add up to 159 (3 per 1 hp, 4 per 1 mobility, and 1 each for will and aim), so I did adjust something like 100% female always lose 1 hp in exchange for 2 will and 1 aim (100%, -1hp, +2 will, +1 aim).
Problem is when the new recruit roll for 3 hp they can no longer recieve the -1hp penalty from this mod since the lowest hp possible is 3, it's mean that soldier getting free 3 point of stat without ant loss.
can you fix this so that when the soldier roll for 3 hp it cannot be afftected by this mod?
Well, it probably can be fixed this way that when the trade off is not valid the trade is not done. However does these extra 2 will and 1 aim really unbalance your game? Also you only think of your config with the sole trade. Imagine this: 50% to trade 1 HP for +3 Aim 50% to trade 1 HP for +3 Will. Now take a woman with 4 HP. Which bonus should apply if both are rolled? How would the algorithm be able to decide?
Hi. Thanks for taking your time making the mod available. Three questions:
I have a new install of the base game, with a new install of Long War, and then installed UI Mod Manager and then This, and nothing else.
When I set the ratio to 1, it performs as expected. When I set it to 0.0, I see no effect, its mixed genders. When I set it to 0.1, I see more males than females.
1: What could the reason be?
2: The install instructions where not explicit on what to do with the folder named Source files. I moved it to "XCom-Enemy-Unknown\XEW\XComGame\Ignore\Source files" Was the right, wrong, or neither?
3: I noticed the files I copied asked me to overwrite files. doesn't this erase changes made by other mods?
Thanks!
EDIT: This worked, so it's doable, although it took more reading and work than this mod: Mod name: XCOM Interface and Gameplay Tweaks, file: Soldier Nationality Probability for EU and EW
I don't understand what doesn't work because from your report all works fine. The ratio of 1.0 works (you words). The ratio of 0.0 is same as "ignore this setting". Imagine you don't have the .ini file. What is the ratio then? 0.0 of course. That's the case - setting to 0.0 is same as "ignore". Conclusion: you cannot have 0.0. Use at least 0.01. Finally 0.1 sees working as well. It's the ratio of women. So 10% of women. You say you have more male soldiers. So all seems correct.
If the ratio at 0.01 (1% of women) is not enough for you can still set it even lower but not through Mods Menu. Open DefaultModGender.ini and set WOMEN_RATIO=0.0001With the chance of 0.01% for a woman you should end up with 0 women.
Whenever I load the game and go into Available Mod Packages GenderMod is in red with the message "Required package could not be loaded!! Probably missing file GenderMod.u inside CookedPCConsole and its subfolders.
I can not find a GenderMod.u file anywhere. Any help would be appreciated.
If you followed the installation instructions you should have it in your ...XEW\XComGame\CookedPCConsole\Mutators It should be GenderManager.u not GenderMod.u
In that case you must have made a typo when adding the line to DefaultMutatorLoader. You must have typed GenderMod.GMMutator instead of GenderManager.GMMutator
I thiiiink I got it working. Finally had time to take another crack at it and went step by step super carefully through each separate mod needed and started a new game. First mission was all female soldiers so unless it's a fluke then it works. I think some of the other options are not fully working or need to be configured but this was the only one I wanted.
In the end had to do a search in file contents for some .ini lines as the file names are not as per the site instructions or redme files. You might want to go through and create a newer streamlined series of instructions for the gender manager specifically. Other than that with patience it can be done.
Thanks a ton for a mod that makes the game a lot more fun :)
I'm having a bit of a problem using this mod with LW Rebalance (for Long War) https://www.nexusmods.com/xcom/mods/686?
In long war rebalance you start with some shivs, and when I use this mod I don't get those shivs. I do see the shivs existing in the engineering menu (I always my number of shivs as 3 more than I see in my barracks) but I don't see them in my soldier list. I have also been seeing some bugs that include crashes at the end of missions.
Is there any chance this mod will be made to work with long war rebalance?
Unfortunately I don't sign up for maintanance of my mods to keep compatibility with LW Rebalance because LWR gets updated at least once a week. Therefore anything I do on some Monday to provide the compatiblity might be outdated on the following Wednesday before I have even managed to upload my "compatibility fix".
I haven't even played Xcom2 :) I bet such a mod is already there. There are thousands of mods for it though, available through the built-in mod launcher (there's even community's Alternative Mod Launcher). No need for nexusmods.
Question: When installing this mod, are you supposed to overwrite any files?
I'm running LW 1.1 (And 1.0 I guess since its required for 1.1) with the All Perks per Rank added to it already and the game runs fine even with minor but wide spread ini Changes in the Gamecore and Squadronsunleashed files.
Whenever I go to copy the files to install this mod, I'm prompted with an overwrite request and that scares me cause I don't want to breaks things and need to reinstal.
Overwrite. It's safe. It's just the fact that my mods share some common base (like XComMutator, XComModsProfile, XComModShell, etc.). So they are present in all my download packs.
Okay thanks for letting me know, and for replying so quickly! (was expecting a couple of days before any response)
I would mostly use this for the Gender ratio control, because I think the girls look better ... the armor isn't quite so massively outsized on them, where the guys look like they should fall over and be unable to get back up. The armor is still too big on the girls, but only to the point of 'that looks really heavy' instead of 'overturned turtle just waiting to happen'.
The extra options for randomization is nice, though. Can RP different body types with those.
Yes, fair point. There are many ideas to build around- like rework the whole character stat generator with gender in mind. But actually the mod will not be expanded. I was just emptying my drawers - this one has been ready for c.a. 6 months but I had no motivation to set up the mod site :)

I just finished Xcom Enemy within , it was beautiful experience. My first time playing the game.
Anyway moving to xcom 2 WOTC and am curious would you u make this mod for that game ?
Xcom2 actually has edit soldier option in which you can even change gender.
So i guess its all good.
I cut all 'limbs' (mechs) to all males and gave 'implants' to girls.
It's quite fun
