---DEPRECATED! SEE MY NEW MOD COMMANDER'S CHOICE FOR WHAT THIS DOES BUT BETTER---

I prefer playing with all the random Second Wave options on - Not Created Equal, Hidden Potential, Training Roulette, New Economy, High Stakes. What irked me about this playstyle, though, was when the rookie with a glass eye got handed the sniper rifle while the most sluggish member of my squad picked up a shotgun.

This mod replaces the old fill-and-draw-from-stack mechanism for class assignment with a new, more dynamic test, which judges what to do with a rookie based on their starting stats.

How this works is by dividing the initial Aim and Mobility stats (55-80 and 11-14, respectively) into Low, Medium, and High bins. The bin a rookie falls into determines what classes they might get.

The way I see it, Snipers need the highest aim, but they don't really need to move fast. Assaults are the opposite - flanking shots at point blank are no-brainers, but closing the gap is important. Supports tend toward faster feet for taking ground and getting to injured squad-mates faster, and Heavies camp out waiting for good rockets but need to compensate for their abysmal aim growth.

With that in mind, given Low mobility and High aim, you have a 100% sniper. With Medium mobility and Low aim, you have a Support or an Assault. The boring people in the middle of the pack can be anything, mainly so that things won't get too far off reservation when playing with Not Created Equal disabled. See the little plot for the details, the distribution is balanced so that all considered a fresh rookie has the same chance to be come anything.

Also note that this overrides all the balancing mechanisms previously extant - no longer are you guaranteed to get all four classes with your first four promotions, or be given your least populous class by abduction missions! Though I have to say, coming out of the first mission with three heavies is quite fun.

To Install: Extract the .txt file and install as a Toolboks custom mod. Won't work so well if you go messing with the random stat distributions in the ini files.
